Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice for those familiar with EPIK. I've sent in my application and am waiting for the phone interview. I'm in an M.A./Ph.D. (concurrent) program in Linguistics and am just finishing up my 2nd year of it and will be getting my TESOL certificate in May. I'm 25, and I need to pay down some of my student loans and my uni's funding got cut so enrolling next semester is not an option for me (no assistantships). Obviously I love ESL/EFL, but three years ago I taught in Japan through one of the Big 4 conversation schools, but had to leave shortly into the contract because I was sick (sinus disease) and I couldn't see a doctor in Japan because my idiot manager always said he was too busy to go to the city office and vouch for me to get my Alien Reg. Card. I really want to teach English abroad, especially in Asia, and I've been teaching ESL privately part-time for the last year. My question is, based on my circumstances, do I have a good shot of getting in with EPIK or GEPIK? Also, I'm applying with my husband, who also has ESL tutoring experience and lived in China for a year. I'd appreciate any input or tips. I'm going with Reach to Teach, btw. |
