I really enjoy Boracay. This year was my third time and found it very relaxing after a very stressful winter. I've made some cool friends on the island and the international feeling is quite amazing!
Now I only need to learn Freddy Agular's song "Anak". BTW, 40% of the whole island is Korean.
So, what do you think of my sunset shot? Not too shabby for a digital, eh?

Thanks. Who would have thought an Olympus could do this?! The island sunsets are so breathtaking!
We stayed just off the beacj at Chez Paris. Roger's an awesome guy! His pub style bar always brings some interesting personalities! Saw some old friends that I met 3~!4 years ago. It was very relaxing!

It would appear that a few of us were on Boracay at the same time. Were you guys the ones over sixty with 18 year olds (being generous there) on your arms?

| whatta y'all think about renting a motorcycle in the PI? Good idea? Bad idea? I did it in Malaysia (KL side) and it worked out well, but maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea in the PI because there are so many islands. |

I rented one on Puerto Galera but it's really only worth doing for one day. The island has really rough roads (if it's not a dirt bike you're not getting out of Sabang) and the bike rental guy told me not to go to far into tribal land cuz I could get shot. Don't know about other islands. Better to stick to renting boats. $40 got us an outrigger, fishing and snorkel gear, a cooler of beer and soft drinks, and a couple of guides for 8 hours. I think we paid too much too compared to what other people have told me. Still, better than renting bikes and getting covered in mud as you try not to fall off cliffs and avoid getting hit by jeepneys. |

Looks great! Anyone know what's around Angeles City that would appeal to a woman? A friend has been trying to get me to go for ages now, and I've always said no, cause what would I do, while he was busy "playing" with the locals.  |

Someone protested my comment that Filipino food is dull by saying there are lots of Indian and foreign restaurants! But what I mean is that the local dishes were pretty unexciting to me-- lots of noodles and organ meats... yicch. There's enough of that here...
I would not venture around the Philippines on motorbike, except maybe for an afternoon's fun, partly because of the danger, and partly because transportation is already so cheap. Tricycles and jeepneys are everywhere. It would also not be easy to get a motorbike on a boat.

to bypass the huge scam with the airport taxis;
from the old (orginal) terminal, turn RIGHT once out of the building, and walk about 40m. There are buses and taxis and jeepneys. A bus ride to Makati is just 15 pesos.
from the New (PAL only flights) terminals, turn LEFT, and go all the way down the incline - about 120m. Buses, taxis, and jeepneys.
The taxis there are much cheaper - but make sure they use the meter.
for a change of pace, head north insead - banaue, bontoc, vigan ...........
and despite all the news reports (eastern) Mindanao is safe - very pretty.
Or try Cebu. |
