Does anyone know where I can get the flashcards for the 4th grade textbook? I used to get them here: http://korean-school.blogspot.com/2007/01/public-elementary-school-help.html
but now that the textbooks have been updated, I will soon be needing flashcards for the new chapters that aren't posted on that website. |

Nope, I dont use that festering dog turd of an excuse for a text book or its non effective games.
I tell them to leave the book in their home room and come to class without it. I create games they actually want to play.
But that's just me  |

If you were a real teacher, you'd maybe share some of your expertise, rather than say how great you are 
I know there is an option where you can make flashcards using the 3rd grade's CD-ROM, my co-teacher did that this morning. Perhaps it's the same for 4th grade. |

Go on EFL Classroom 2.0 ning
Then go to resources - games.
A good game to start with is Baam. Kids love it. You can modify it so it reaches the level of your students. They also have lots of templates for Jeopardy. If you can't find this site contact deubels he regularly posts on this site . He's really helpful.
Fling the Teacher and What's the Wordle are also very useful.
So is all the Karoke material and Powerpoints. |

I never said I was great ( not usually one for tooting my own horn)
Examples, sure, I use a game called SWITCH
Let's say you have your core question "what did you do this weekend" I the prepare individual cards that have pictures and answers to appropriate response ( I went to Mcdonalds, I read a book etc) I make sure that there are enough answers to that each kid in the class as their own card and there are no duplicates.
SO I give out each card and read the answet to the studnet for thier card ( so that they can recite it when answered.
Once each kid has a card, I remind them of the core question, we repeat it a number of times then I let them loose. ALl 30 kids go to any students ( nearest one) and ask them the core question. They answer with whats on thier own card. Then they ask "what about you" once the other student responds they swicth cards with each other and repeat until I ring the bell.
Once I ring the bell they go back to thier chairs but remain standing.
In a hat I have ALL of the answers copied.
I get the students to YELL the core question "TEACHER WHAT DID YOU DO THIS WEEKEND????????
I pull out a card and read it. The student who has that card comes up and I ask them
"what did you do this weekend?"
They answer correctly they get the candy reward, they answer wrong, no candy
I buy a lot of Candy.
I also like to do a lot of surveys ( grid of 18 with various responses corresponding to the questions example How are you feeling? - sick, tired, sleepy etc) they go around and ask students. If they say yes, then they write down that students name. NO duplicate names allowed.
For whose it I pick a bunch of random pictures off the internet groups have to work together to solve whose item it is ( in recent ones I have chosen Batmans car, joker's suit, Yankees Logo, the Golden Gate bridge etc)

Unlike some I am not a selfish teacher. Once I am done with updating my lesson plans I am sticking them up on SMOE world as well. |

| This is not to say that I am the FIRST guy that ever came up with any of these ideas, however each one was created/modified by me from other ideas. Other than the general survey structure, I created all of my sheets. |
