I have to agree about the Hurley replacing Jacob thing. Haven't seen today's episode yet, but things did always seem to point to Hurley being WAY more important that the others give him credit for. It would make sense to me. |

Let's get binary: Team Jacob or Team MIB/Smokey?
Me, I like MIB. Jacob acts all high and mighty, but he's a jerk. "I'm going to bring these people to the island to test them. Oh no, the black smoke monster is feeling menstrual and kills everyone. Oh well, my hands are clean because I don't intervene."
He may be a God archetype, but it just makes God seem petty. |

That episode was great! Why'd they have to make, like, three seasons of total crap to get there? |

So, is Jacob looking for a Job (as in the Biblical character)? Jacob says that Smokey thinks all men are corruptible because they are full of sin and Jacob keeps bringing people to the island to prove him wrong. Sounds a bit similar to the story of Job.
I'm rather disappointed in Hurley becoming the Ghost Whisperer. I hope we find out he was never actually talking to dead people but was being duped by Smokey or something.
Jacob doesn't want to get involved because he wants people to "help themselves" but then he makes Ricardo his rep. and therefore gets involved anyway. Hmmm.
I liked that the only apparent way to kill either Smokey or Jacob is the same.
Lots of Judeo-Christian names, terms but the white and black balance thing reminds me more of yin and yang. |

So, uh,
Jacob is god
Richard is Jesus
Ben - Judas
Hurley is John the Baptist
Smokey is the Devil
Sawyer - I would have been tempted to say the antichrist - but it's quite possible he represents 'man' - struggling to choose between good and evil.
Whitmore - Rome?
Dharma - Jews?
The Others - Muslims?
The rest? False prophets? disciples?
The destruction of the statue symbolizing the destruction of pagan religion?
I'm sure you guys can to better than I! Anyone else with more wild speculation? |

I'm not convinced the package is what they showed at the end. |

Yeah, you'd think Widmore would have treated Desmond better all these years if he'd known he was so important to the island. |

My guess is it's Walt, and Desmond is just a head fake. |

That was a bit of a letdown. I have a hunch this entire season is going to be a letdown. |

Yeah, the season really seems to have stalled. I just hope they don't resort to random character kill-offs to try and restart the engines. |

But this is the final season. It can't or shouldn't stall out. They got a lot fo explaining to do. I bet this whole thing is going to end up being a huge disappointment making fans feel like they wasted their time on something as pointless as this probably is. |

This season has been pretty bad so far.
I did enjoy the Richard episode. No idea he could act. And we got to see a few good reveals.
Other than that it's been garbage. Prepare for a huge disappointment with none of the questions you really wanted answered. |

The Jin and Sun back story was pretty good. But for those who are hoping for some kind of finale that is going to blow all TV away then that's your problem. What have we seen this develop into? A struggle between good and evil. You think there is not going to be a happy ending? It's a TV drama. |
