Hello all,
I was wondering what is covered in 6 month contracts??? I saw some ads as 6 - 1 year contracts...and one of told me it's the same as 1 year contract except the SEVERANCE pay... So FLIGHT tickets are covered as well??? I thought they only pay for one flight tic only... I am not sure how to ask these details to schools... Any suggestions???
Thanx! |

Also, I was wondering about this CBC stuff..I already have a military security clearance, ( married to a military person, ) they already did a background check for my previous job, and I have the clear form with me...
Do I still need to a police certificate from CAnada??? I havent even lived there, for the past 5 yrs....we've been overseas all this time?!

ASK the recruiter or school. IF you are uncomfortable asking you will certainly be uncomfortable here where you are usually kept in the dark until something happens (usually as a surprise to you).
IF it is a PS job then they MAY pay both ways (or more likely just give you a stipend in lieu now-a-days). If it is a hakwon, EVERYTHING is negotiable. 6 month contracts for overseas hires are really RARE in Korea. (they are pretty common in a few of the neighboring countries).

IF you are covered by the SOFA (married to an American service man AND are here with command permission) then it is a non issue unless you want to work at a PS. ALL PS positions require it. They may settle for one from the base provo office.
If you are NOT covered by the SOFA then YES, you need to get one from Canada (your passport is Canadian) if you want to work in a school of any kind - even though you may be married to an American soldier.

I am covered by SOFA, but we are in Europe at the moment..We were in Seoul prior coming here...
I have the security clearance report from the police on base here...I was thinking that should be enuf??? He'll be gone for half a year, that's why I thought about going to Korea and save some money.... but all this paper work is discouraging...Military associated people should have it easier.... |

You missed the proviso in the 1st post...
You are not posted here with your husband and living as a military dependent, you are here alone... so you need an E2 to work (along with the crap that goes with it).
The only bonus is that you will have base access (can go to the commissary and PX). |

I thought they wouldnt ask all the CRC crap, since I have clear military security clearance..I'll send them the scanned copy, see what they say..
Once school asked me when was my previous ARC expired? I dont knw how that matters...maybe it speeds up the process a bit..
Thanx for ur feedback...sigh.. |
