|
|
Got a 3.1.3 7E18 firmware ipod touch.
Can't jailbreak it. It won't even downgrade to 3.1.2.
Any suggestions? |

Do a hard reset (can find instructions online)... It'll wipe it back to out of the box freshness and you can jailbreak to your heart's content (will also delete anything you have on there at the time, so make sure you've got your files saved somewhere) |

I think the out of the box firmware is 3.1.3 7E18.
From what I'm reading on the internet, it can't be jailbroken (at least on a windows PC) and it can't be downgraded.
The info I found on the net was a couple months old, so wasn't sure if there was any new information. |

Sorry bud, you may be SoL for a bit yet... The newest Redsnow release back in Feb doesn't cover the new 3g touches... Can't imagine it'll be too long till they work something out for ya |

I'v got an 8gb new 3rd gen(although its supposed to be same as 2nd for 8gb model) itouch, came with 3.1.3 firmware
I'v tried everything to downgrade it,
but i think because it's a new MC model it's impossible, for now
I read though, that there will be a solution very soon |

|
|
1) Download the ipod touch 2G 3.1.2 firmware from here:
http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
2) Save the firmware to your computer
3) Plug your ipod in to your computer and launch itunes
4) While holding down the Option key (on a Mac), or the Shift key (on a PC), choose Restore in itunes, navigate to the firmware you downloaded, and choose that to restore your ipod
5) After the restore is complete (with the 2G 3.1.2 firmware), shut down itunes, then download and run blackra1n (it is a 1-click piece of software that will jailbreak your ipod):
http://blackra1n.com/
After you run blackra1n, itunes may restart - just shut it down again. After blackra1n completes, you will have a tethered jailbreak. Be sure to install Rock from the blackra1n icon on your ipod. You will need to install appsync 3.1.2 via Rock before you can start installing .ipa files. Add this source in Rock to get appsync: http://apt.macosmovil.com There are many forums online that will answer your questions from here on out. |

That doesn't work anymore because apple stopped signing the older firmware
So it doesnt pass
I was looking again today, and there's a way to bypass it(dunno if it works yet) Ill try tis evening
The demonstration was with windows 7 and editing the server files so it connects and activates through some other server
I'v got a mac but ill try it using parallels with windows 7 |

Apple did stop signing the firmware, but it is possible to install the 2G 3.1.2 firmware on the 8gig 3G ipod. It seems to think that it is a 2G, and there are no issues to restore. I did this, on my mac, this weekend. It won't work on the 16 or 32gig ipod touches, but it does work on the 8gig. |

doesn't work for mine
Must have tried everything so far.
Anyone got a solution other than mentioned so far?
8gb touch, Mc . . . . , 3rd gen (but really still 2nd for 8gb model),
3.1.3 firmware pre-installed when bought new
Tried even editing the hosts files, it passes first part of registering with apple but then as soon as the apple screen comes on the itouch with the progress bar, it fails.
I then have to restore with new firmware again
Tried on windows and os x |
