I guess for some people the kind of weird barrier of language makes it easier. Since they can't tell what you're saying (mostly), they can only detect charm and confidence, so I guess, at least for me, it makes it easier because there's nothing embarrassing you can say to put your foot in your mouth, so it's all just about acting a certain way, which is infinitely easier than trying to think up something witty or interesting to say. But then again I was handsome back in the west, so I know that in Korea I look like a God-king, so I've got nothing to worry about. I know that sounds like gloating, but it's just the truth.

I do like that line about "don't worry, you look good" though.

Sometimes I think if I was a bit more confident, I'd be in a much better position. If I've got drinks in me and I'm in a club environment, chatting up girls is easy. Problem is, I'm not a big fan of drinking/clubbing.

Girls on the subway? No idea.

Your friend is a creep. Don't aspire to creeping on girls minding their own business going to work. It's creepy, not confident.

Speaking as a woman who regularly finds myself out in public getting creeped on, knock it off. It happens to the average woman every time we leave the house. Trust me, if you do it you aren't making yourself stand out with your amazing confidence. There are a lot of "confident" guys out there.

No seriously, get lost. Beat it. (But not in the face of women who have to run a gauntlet of harassment every day just to make a living.)

What a charmer!!!! Come on, how does the typical reaction NOT convince you this is a terrible idea?

Making 99 girls feel anxious and threatened is SO WORTH that one who will immediately drop to her knees and pull your pants down. (Disclaimer: this will never happen. The most you will scare out of them is a phone number, and they will ignore you when you call. You bully.)

Sorry if I wasn't clear, but I'm not at all setting out to become a clone of my friend. It's more that I think what he does is funny--but I can see how it could be an annoyance for women. What I should have said was, I wish I was more comfortable approaching people outside of a club environment (that's not a bad thing, right?)

I understand your perspective and appreciate you sharing it here.

My confidence: 1/10
My confidence with drinks: 8/10
My friend's confidence: Kanye West + P. Diddy/10

you yourself used kanye west and p. diddy as a metric to judge someone. how on god's green earth can you think being compared to those guys is a good thing.

jesus christ, smarten up dude. your friend is going to be that dude who wears leisure suits to bars in an ironic fashion long after he has become too fat and bald to pull it off.

he will become a shadow of a fat parody before his time is through. christ.

Lol. If you had actually read my post I am sure I stated I am not setting myself out to be like my friend at all. I used Kanye West and P. Diddy to demonstrate that his ego/confidence are absurd--but if you want to interpret it in a way I didn't intend, then go ahead.

Let me spell it out in bullet point form:
- I have this friend
- He is a creeper
- However, he IS confident
- I think his antics are hilarious
- I don't at all want to be like him
- It WOULD be nice to have more confidence (<-- this is where people who want to believe that I'm an aspiring creeper probably get confused)

I don't want to be my friend. I already explained that after Draz's post.

Confidence by itself isn't a bad thing. Let's take the 'girls' variable out of this equation. I'd like more confidence outside of clubs to just talk to people in general.

Never change, ESL Cafe, never change.

Meeting cute K-girls is sickeningly easy if you are remotely attractive, and friendly. There is a fine line between creepy and cool, but most Korean's don't know that difference. Being creepy might be lame in America, but here it can definitely get you laid. Smile, speak slowly, and profit. Good luck!

I think a lot of the people who are talking about "creeping" on here are misunderstanding something - to many Korean girls, especially the younger set, this "creeping" is just simply courting.

that reminds me of a quote from some movie regarding hitting on female co-workers:

"When I do it, it's flirting... when you do it, it's sexual harrassment."

I disagree. You will rarely see a genuinely hot girl on the subway here, anytime.

You're probably going to be accused of yellow fever.

In any case, I tend to like cuter girls, so Korea has a lot of those. For guys that are more into T&A, not seeing many is perfectly understandable.
