Can someone tell me if it still exists? I tried looking for it near Jonggak.

The franchise still exists in Korea. I've seen them around. Not sure about Jongro though.

The one that's located on River Hill Road near The Holiday Inn Hotel/Garden Hotel at Mapo Station was there on February 25th of this year. It's about one minute by foot from the hotel and one minute by foot from, I think, Exit 7 of Mapo Station. Ask the people you'd see on the street for directions. Mapo Station is in one of the most affluent and cosmopolitan neighbourhoods of Korea, and I hang there whenever I get the chance as the people, in general, are polite and friendly.

Thanks! Is it IN the station or just around it?

It is not in the station. Go out exit 2. Walk maybe 3 minutes and it will be on your left. You will pass a Paris Baguette and a Baskin Robbins. Maybe it is before Baskin Robbins. They are right next to each other regardless.

There's also one at Korea University, but that's rather a long way to travel for a chicken sandwich.

There's one by Chungmuro Station (center city lines 3&4).
There's an exit that leads right up to it but if you go out exit 1 and make a u-turn you'll see it on your left after passing the Daehan Movie Theater on the main road. Probably around 100-150 meters.

The true question is how is the food compared to the Popeye's in the U.S.? Did they Korea-ify it at all? Particularly the Cajun rice or the spicy fried chicken?

Do they have Cajun rice at popeye's in Korea? Like KFC, it's not really "Koreanized" that much, but they drastically reduce the menu. I still can't believe I can't get mashed potatoes and gravy at KFC. Why bother going there at all?

It's not nearly as good as it's back in the States. Pretty much the only side is fries and the chicken just doesn't taste the same.
