A Southern California school teacher has been arrested for allegedly teaching while drunk.

Toro Canyon Middle School teacher Tonya Neff was taken to the Indio jail Tuesday afternoon and booked for investigation of felony child endangerment.

Administrators at Thermal's Toro Canyon Middle School told the Riverside County Sheriff's Department that the 47-year-old teacher was apparently intoxicated on campus.

Sheriff's Sgt. Mike Tapp says Neff had taken prescription drugs and alcohol and an alcoholic beverage was found inside a container.

Coachella Valley school district Superintendent Ricardo Medina says there was never a threat to Neff's seventh-grade students. Neff has been placed on leave.

d. Someone just happened to see her drinking it down.
e. She got caught barfing it all up.

There are too many questions that need to be answered as to how one can avoid being caught in the future.

Pretty damn funny though. I think this girl should have taken up fishing or golf, where drinking is not only accpepted its the only reason to do it.

I had a CT teach kind of tipsy before. It was in December, and last week of classes, and all the english teacher went for lunch. She was the eldest (45) and decided to partake in a few bottles of soju with me. The other younger teacher (mostly in their 20's) were a little concerned but really couldn't to anything since she was the 'elder'. We only had one more class.

Well, we didn't actually teach, but I just showed a movie. We were just chuckling at the back of class and some students probably could have smelled the booze, others were probably wondering why we thought everything was so funny. Great times.

A Burbank middle school teacher pleaded no contest on Thursday to charges that she had sex with a 14-year-old student.

Amy Beck, 33, surrendered at the Burbank Police Department headquarters earlier this month and was booked on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts.

She was apparently overcome by guilt, Burbank police officials said.

Burbank police investigators allege that Beck, a teacher at David Starr Jordan Middle School, had a relationship with one of her male students from March to September 2009.

Beck was a well-known and popular teacher at David Starr, and both teachers and students expressed shock at her arrest.

Earlier this month, she resigned from the school district. She could face up to two years in prison when sentenced.

I live in Southern California and saw this story on the local news. Some random mom at the school was interviewed, and she said the teacher was brave for coming forward. I can't imagine she would say the same thing if a male teacher came forward...

Child molestation, unthinkable.

But if a female does it, it WILL be mentioned in Jay Leno's monologue.

Obviously an attractive woman who wouldn't have much trouble getting male attention. Why do this? I really can't understand it. I guess it really is pedophilia. I wonder how much of it goes unreported in the case of female teachers (or any adult woman, for that matter...) vs male teachers.

That shouldn't be a crime.

it is a bigger deal when the man does it, because the man is (should be) the dominate sex in the society. so it is inferred that the man tricked, manipulated, or forced the woman to do something.
however a 30-attractive female, when is any teenage boy going to say when offered sex? enough said.
