I have about 6 students in my school who can not read or understand phonics at all.
The school wants me to give them homework, but I'm not sure what I can give them to do at home if I'm not there to sound out the letters for them. (writting "D" 100 times is useless if you dont know the sound it makes)
Any recommendations??
I dont want to use Hangul. |

Make lists of words and the students have to circle the "odd man out" based on the sounds.
For example: Yellow Know Cow Show
Cereal Couch Can Cat
Other activities could be... write ten 3 letter words with the letter A in them.
Ask the students which words they can add an E to at the end to change the word... hat->hate car->care |

Thank you!
Those are really useful l ideas that I'll definitely end up using for my other classes.
Unfortunately these students dont know how to read. To them looking at the word "can" is just as useful as looking at something in Thai script.
I need some super super super basic.
I thought about using Hangul such as "ㅎ is similar to H", but I dont think thats the best idea and not all of our sounds are congruent.
I think I might go with this set of worksheets:

I use the funfonix for my special ed classes. Seems to be working so far... |

..its not the class so much as its the students doing this at home alone...so I'm not there to sound out the letter for them while they repeat and write.
I agree though, the fun fonix sites are great for in class work. Especially short vowels. |
