Whether the Tea Party protesters are engaging in racism or not (I'd be genuinely surprised if at least some of them didn't given the size of the group involved, but I don't think it really defines the movement either), they're still just useful idiots riled up by organizations like Fox News to be used in the service of corporate interests. This is why they sat by quietly during 8 years of Republican misrule, and only started seriously acting out after Obama got elected.
I'm sure in these people's minds they are free thinkers who are campaigning against big government. And if they really were, they'd be worthy of respect whether one agreed with them or not. They aren't, though; they sat by happily enough through years of big government, so long as said big government was being lead by Republicans. |

This reminds me of that big fiasco during the election.
Pictures of a man with an AR15 slung over his shoulder hanging out nearby an Obama speech.
CNN cried, "Hark, it is militant Klan-like racism!"
Odd, though, and very embarrassing for CNN, when Fox News showed the non-CROPPED picture of a black man with a rifle. They interviewed the fellow, too.
It's politics, not journalism. Perhaps you would prefer refined, enlightened European protests, where nothing is sacred, cars and buildings are torched, and people are assaulted?
I have no reason to believe that some childish, brutish hecklers didn't yell something out in a crowd. Protesting is the rising of the rabble.
The question is... do you bite the bait, do you blame all conservatives for some hecklers? Perhaps we should blame everyone on the internet for comments on YouTube? All Native English Teachers for what is said on Dave's?
Seriously, folks, this is non-news. This is only print worthy in order to smear people. Regurgitating this information all over the web is an endorsement of hit-journalism. Shame. |

My friend went to check out the protests yesterday. What he saw:
Saw plenty of tea bagger zaniness on the Hill yesterday... Many invoked the classic anti-tyranny messages of the Founders, with "Don't Tread on Me" flags and tri-cornered hats (!) Elsewhere, there were signs of Obama as Hitler, Obama as the Joker, of Obam-Mao, and one that said simply, "Obama bin Lyin'!"
He didn't hear any racist remarks, just dumb GOP congressmen posing for pics with some tea party people. |

I have to admit, this one's mildly witty. I also wish more people would wear tri-cornered hats. |

Yes, agreed. The Obama bin Lyin one was pretty amusing. |

That's exactly what I've seen. No racism but hoards of disorganized thinking and hyperbole. As Scott Horton says "I want a constitutionally limited government with a world empire". Insane. The Ron Paul/libertarian/constitutionalists are being pushed aside. |

Really? You missed the witch doctor with the bone in his nose ad? Where were you?
What % of the birther crap is about racism?
In my view about half the 'Obama is a secret Muslim' is more about race than religion.
As Jon Stewart so astutely pointed out, the word 'li*bert*arian' contains the words 'lie' and 'arian' and we all know what the Aryans are about. |
Why do you hate America? Are you really THAT liberal? Is Karl Marx your hero? |
