I know, I know, Gangnam is huge and of COURSE there are great restaurants there. But, I don't have time to go and try them all myself, and I'm sure that all of you are well aware of the pitfalls of dining in Korea. Recommendable to me means a staff with some English ability, a menu in English, a nice atmosphere and decent food that's not too, well, Korean fusion, I guess, for lack of a better word. I'm looking for something either western or italian maybe, but I'll take suggestions on anywhere. Directions would be appreciated as well.

Go to Yeoksam Station, Exit 3. To your left is a building with a corner entry and stairs to the basement (sorry I can never remember the name of the place). Donstairs you'll find an elegant, low light restaurant with occasional live Jazz music and a mediterranean style menu. Prices are okay, portions are good. More of a date place to impress but has tables long enough to accomodate medium sized groups. Menus in English, staff speaks English, friendly atmosphere.

Opposite side (I believe it's Exit 7) there's a pub style bar/restaurant in the basement (guess what, I forgot their name too) which you can access through the subway. But that's more koreanized Western food, though they do have live music and happy hours as well.

Dos Taco! Good Mexican for Korea (FOR KOREA! to any haters). I'm not sure on directions. But, I know it's right in the alley way next to the Frisbee store (Apple store). Good luck.

For reasonably priced Italian right by Gangnam station, go out exit 7 and take the first road on your right (just after Paris Baguette). Walk up the hill and it's on the right hand corner of the first decent size street you come to. There's a Ministop on the opposite corner. It's called Capricciosa.

It's food is pretty good for the price. You can get pizza, pasta, salads, and I think steak-type meals, but I've never tried them. The staff don't speak much English, but with some basic survival Korean you'll get by. The menus are in a combination of Korean and English. The dish names are written in English but the description is in Korean. If you read Hangeul, you can work a lot of it out b/c it's mostly transliterated from English.

The food is good, but not brilliant. For the price and it being an Italian restaurant in Korea, it's decent. The wine is about 5000won for the house wine, and is quite drinkable.

Thanks for the tips guys! The Moroccan place sounds good, but I think I'm gonna hold off on trying it. I'm from Jeongja, so we have the other Butterfinger Pancakes right near my house. I've heard things about Big Rock, but I wasn't sure if the food was any good. Does anyone have directions to get there?

Anyone ate at Puccini Italian restaurant in Gangnam? The Italian who used to manage La Tavola/Antonios apparently is the owner there. Just wondering how good the food is if anyone has been lately.
