SOLD! (03/28/2010)

Looking to get to know Korea this summer? Frustrated you didnt get out to the slopes as much as you wanted this past winter? Or just tired of seeing Korea from the inside of a bus barreling down the street / expressway at the hands of a Korean bus driver who doesnt realize that he/she isnt in the middle of a NASCAR race?

Im selling my 1999 4-door Daewoo Matiz. It has just over 185,000km on the engine, but it's reliable and works like a champ (lots of highway kms). Ive performed regular maintenance on it oil changes (every 5,000km), tire rotation, etc. and its just been in this week for its regular check-up. Unlike many older cars you see, it doesnt burn oil and the body is in pretty good shape (a few bumps and bruises, but no rust). Ive recently put some money into the car to ensure youre getting it in tip-top shape new tires, alignment, brakes, and battery. Ive also recently paid the car tax on it and it went in for emissions testing about 8 months ago.

Only drawback, at least from a Koreans point of view, is that its a standard/manual transmission. However I know there are more than a few out there who would appreciate the extra control afforded by the manual transmission and the added fuel economy.

Overall, this is a great little car that has seen it all in South Korea and would make a great buy for anyone looking to travel Korea during their stay. The only reason Im selling our trusted traveling companion is that my wife and I are expecting our first child in August and were looking to upgrade to a bigger car.

Some Added Benefits: half-price on highway tolls (great for those looking to travel this summer!), half price parking in the city, a roof rack (if youre a camper or skier/snowboarder its a lifesaver), power windows/locks

Price: Im asking 1,000,000 won (O.B.O). Ive taken a spin around some used car places and I couldnt find a Matiz like this for under 1.5 million won.

Please, only serious inquiries.

It's a nice looking car. It should be easily worth your asking price, 1,000,000.

goat, stephenpoi and Informer...thanks for the kind words! I've tried my best to keep the ol' gal in tip-top shape and offer it at a reasonable price. No reason to gouge...I just want someone to enjoy the car as much as my wife and I did.

And it looks like I've got a buyer for the car (my wife is already flipping through new car brochures on the couch). If anything changes, I'll get in touch with those who also replied to my post.

I have a random question. I just bought a Matiz 2. Haven't taken it on the highway yet. Are the half price tolls automatic or do I need to do something special?

Nothing special. They know this car's engine displacement is bellow 1L. And you can save on parking too. What you loose - is the ability to move uphill Smile
