Hi
I am considering teaching in South Korea, but I have a number of questions about it. Can someone answer some questions that I have.
I am a canadian who has lived/worked in the USA for ten years, and is returning to canada.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Sure...
Get the facts...... READ THE FAQs..
http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewforum.php?f=7
scroll down to things like:
Getting a Job - Korea Vs Japan, Taiwan and China
Getting a Job - Things You Need to Know
Getting a Job -Hagwons, Unis, EPIK & Public Schools
Alien Registration Card (ARC)
Getting Organised to Come to Korea
Choosing a Location in Korea
Contracts - Health Insurance, Pension, Severance etc.
Money, Tax, Credit Cards & the Economy
Visas
..............................
All the sections are a bit old or at least the original postings are BUT the information is still valid in most cases and virtually unchanged with the EXCEPTION of some of the ADDED new requirements when getting a new visa.
AFTER you have done some research... come back and there will be people who will address any concerns you may have.

I will add that after you read these valuable faqs and BEFORE you post again, try to decide what you want in terms of a position:
Adults or Kids?
Large city or small?
When?
Then match that with your qualifications and credentials.
Once all that is done you will have informed and precise questions and hence will get informed responses....
Good luck. |
