i feel like my TROMM front loader is completely useless at getting the clothes clean unless i use the drier function.
they come out linty and even minor stains don't wash out.
i mean, the drier's nice, but it takes like 3 hours. am i doing something wrong? |

Only N.Americans and poor Koreans use top loaders.
You are probably using your machine wrong. Read the instructions or stain your clothes with less stainable stuff.
Welcome to the front-loading future. |

really? a top loading washer + dryer combo in N America beats anything I've used in Asia.
Anyway, of my washers in Asia, 3 have been toplaoders (1 was in Japan, I guess that's another group you can add to your list) and 2 have been front loaders. this is the first that hasn't washed my clothes adequately. and there is ZERO lint removal unless using the VERY inefficient dryer function.
Long live the future.
Btw - WHAT instructions? it's not like i installed this thing myself. |

The TROMM dry function does in fact take quite awhile (2-3hours)
Also be sure to use the TROMM specific detergent (and if possible, the extra-strength detergent).
As for the lint issue, I'm not quite sure myself. My TROMM washer used to give me quite a bit of lint, bit I decreased the load sizes (I also almost nearly always use the machine's dry function) and noticed the lint disappeared. (Also do note that the max wash load size and the max dry load size are not the same-- you can wash more than the machine can dry).
And for my personal experience... I've always had the best results from separate washing and drying machines. |

Most people in NZ use top loaders, it's got nothing to do with money it's about space.
As far as I know washer dryer combos never work as well as individual units. |

OP: do you use detergent that is made for He (High efficiency)machines and use the proper water temperature setting for the detergent? |

Top load washers here don't have the middle agitator, so it tangles all your clothes up.
Its a nice surprise to open the washer to find one of your sweater arms have been pretzeled with 10 other clothing items, and when you finally untie everything, that arm is quite bit longer than the other. |

If you use liquid, make sure it's detergent, pretty often it's just that scent stuff. I personally prefer the power detergent. |

no doubt, without the central agitator a top load washer is a piece of garbage. Though I'd still take it over one of these uselessly tiny frontload machines that take eons to wash 6 shirts and a pair of jeans, and aren't big enough for me to put my quilt in. As it stands washing machines in Korea = big fail |

I use the "drum" detergent. I don't know all the details on it but I generally wash my clothes in cold water.
I guess I will go with what the previous poster said and just use the dryer function again... the clothes do come out pretty dry (except jeans) and i don't have all the lint issues that way.. I just find it a tad wasteful as I dont mind hanging the clothes to dry |

Huh and here most of the Koreans told me they hate the front loaders and they're useless. |

Agreed:
LONG LIVE the N. American TOP-LOADER + DRYER combination.
Faster, efficient and cleaner than any of the garbage I've had to put up
with in the Middle East, Asia, or Europe. Less than 2 hours, to wash then
dry and to be done with it all!!!! |

Throw 5-6 of those nobbly rubber balls in to stop clothes tangling in top-loaders.
You can maybe try a faster wash setting, and maybe dry the clothes with a fan. When you don't have to wear them that day, drying time is not a factor. |

My frontloading washer is a Frigidaire model from the Canaduh, and the Kenmore dryer rests in all its glory on top of that...so riddle me this space you speak of Riddler...
- the washer is possessed though and if i don't unplug it it decides to wash ghost loads...could be the fact it is in a humidity ridden bathroom and the electrical has gone haywire, or the step down converter...in any case...it washes very well whether there are clothes in it or not. |
