I see it in photos, on the subway... what is this? Do they think it's sexy? Cute? Funny? Or is it natural? I don't believe I've seen this anywhere else...

I think that there's some kind of fan death-ish type belief that puffing out your cheeks will prevent smile/laugh lines or something. I'm also kind of confused by this one.

They're emotive, not sullen.

Funny, I'd thought I was the only one to notice this, so I probably would never have been the first to mention it. I find it kind of cute.....on cute girls that is.

Yeah actually it could also be the girl advertising her excellent... "oral" skills, though I doubt it.

I think this is the reason. Though I think the justification makes a little more sense than fan death, even if the science is just as dubious!

It's the 'pouty lips' that's most annoyoing. It might be cute on kids, but when women in their 40s do it it's just inexplicable. What's with this culture and the quest for 'cuteness.' Forty year olds have complete Hello Kitty collections, college notebooks are covered in childish animation, etc

Gal: Better that than Japan's "Loli Goth tribes." I've seen a grand total of five Goths in the last five years in Korea and three of them were Americans on the US base in Seoul. In five years in Japan, I saw hundreds and hundreds of women, well past their teens, wearing "Gosu Loli" (Gothic Lolita) outfits.

Infantilism is how sexually mature women attract men in Korea and Japan and other Asian countries. One subject that gets very little attention on these forums, and probably for good reason, is the nature of eroticism and fetishes here. Repressed societies tend to have many surprising answers.

eyelid surgery for the big round eyes ideal, puffed cheeks and wimpering pornography

to that degree the description fits

(maybe a polar opposite reaction to the ajumma aesthetic; there is little local cultural space for 'strong and sexy' outside of the dancer milieu)
