I actually have a little praise for immigration.

Despite one of the people at the desk when number 68 was up (and we were 69) taking a coffee break, causing me to have to skip lunch, I applied for an extension of my F-2 visa and a re-entry permit (multiple).

I got to the desk and the lady ripped off 50,000 won worth of the stamps and told me starting recently, re-entry permits were free. I could get my money back.

I took the stamps back to the desk and the lady gave me my money back without a word of complaint. It's good to know occasionally the Kovernment does something for us.

They're free for everyone now? Or are you British?

In the past I used to enjoy going to immigration with American co-workers to get re-entry stamps. They'd be charged 50,000won and I'd get it for free. Of course, the American barstewards always pointed out afterwards that they could reclaim about 2million won or so as their 'pension' annually which I never could. Swings and Roundabouts. Swings win I guess.

I actually had a good experience with them too!! Very Happy

We went to apply for my husband's F-3 visa, and weren't sure on the process. We were told what to do when we got there, did the paperwork, left it with them, and waited for it to be mailed to us.

They called us yesterday to confirm our address, but my husband wasn't sure, so they told him to go pick it up. We went to do so today, and got a number to sit in line, waiting for the lady to get off the phone to help us. We just sat down, and then the lady who works in the office giving stamps and such came running up and gave him is passport and ARC, for the F-3 status.

Very easy process, and it was nice that she recognized him.... it might have had something to do with the funniest ARC photo ever.. LOL

I am Canadian, but she told us it was new law that F-2 applicants get free re-entry visas. Makes sense.

sure, its basically just a sticker and a tick in the computer. Its not like they have to do any real work to put reentry stamps on things.

I renewed my F2-1 a few weeks ago and what I got a kick out of was their 'customer satisfaction survey' type thing at the counter.

The question is something like 'How was our attitude today?'.

You can circle one of two options... "kind" or "very kind".
