Out of these 3 choices, where would you go?
Here is the situation:
December 23-28 or 29, just want a relaxing place with medium nightlife, beautiful scenery, no shortage of places to go or things to do. Not as busy as Boracay, and not a desolate beach.
Also, diving of course.
I have been to Bohol before (hence the name) but I am considering going somewhere I haven't been yet. |

Bohol... but since your time is short... get a pension up at Talibon and see the OTHER side of the island... some good diving up here too...
Get away from Tagbilaran... go local///

Palawan has hardly any nightlife, and while some parts are beautiful...to keep yourself occupied you are looking at 9 hour bus rides and horrible roads. I would go Bohol, I love that place. |

A close friend just got back from Palawan. He travelled up and down, north and south. I sent him a message and am awaiting a reply.
Puerto Galerra anyone? If we go, it'll probably be White Beach area. Not Sabang with all the transvestites and the such. |

i've been to Puerto Galerra. i haven't been to White Beach, i was in the Sabang area, in Little Laguna. i liked it quite a bit. i didn't chase after any transvestites or other unsavory characters, nor did any bother me. i stayed in a hotel that i loved called the Deep Blue Sea, the rooms are all on a hillside overlooking the beach and they all have large decks, i think they cost about $40 a night, with A/C, cable, all that. there's some nightlife, but most everything shuts down at around midnight. lots of diving/snorkling. there are reefs right off the beach, so there's a lot to see right there.
i haven't been to Bohol, but i hear good things. i'd probably go Bohol if you can find a cheaper flight to Cebu, PG if you find a cheaper flight to Manila. |

We already have flights to Manila. If we go to PG, we'll do the drive/boat. If Bohol, then fly to Tagbiliran. |

Up, down, north and south is GREAT - IF you have the time.
You've been here before. 5 days is lots if you are in a resort area like Alona but if you have to add in v-hire/jeepney travel time then you will spend all 5 days cramped into some form of local transport and not in the water.
It is an excellent idea if you have a month in between contracts.
Hit Talibon. Look for the internet cafe net to the public market. It is owned by a foreigner named Ken (he is also a preacher in a local church).
He loves to dive, has equipment for 2 or 3 and will take you out for free just because he needs a dive buddy - he is not a tourist operation. He has a website at http://www.talibon.com .
Rooms in the local pension houses run p800 (fan) - 1500 (air) per night.

Well, my wife got on some blogs and naver cafes to read about Puerto Galero.
All of the info she could find (other than how to get there) is about
a) diving and
b) whoring.
So she is deadset against going there. Probably Bohol. |

If you want diving the best place in the Philippines where you can visit is the Puerto Princesa in Palawan because of the coral reefs and the beautiful beaches there..

I would like to disagree but hey, what do I know, I only live here.
There ARE better places to dive but you require local knowledge to find/get to them.
The north west side of bohol (from Talibon) has some GREAT reef diving.
North east of Baasan has some great diving.
There is some fantastic wreck diving (Japanese destroyers) west south west of Suluan island *between suluan and leyte.
Some great diving off of Bantayan island.
There is the sunken graveyard and village off the south end of Camiguin as well as some nice wall and reef dives.
7107 tropical islands and just as many different coral reefs to explore as well as wrecks (Japanese and US) from WWll and a few more recent ones as well.
Lots of places to explore and more great diving than you can shake a regulator at.
Don't just do the tourist traps. Explore!

If you only have 5 or 6 days GO TO BOHOL. If you go to Palawan you WILL spend a full day traveling to your location from Princesa, and a full day back to Princesa.
Also, why not just book to Cebu and take the ferry to TAG instead? Much cheaper than flying, and only takes around 1.5 hrs. |

No SEAIR flights on the day I need. Or any day, according to their site.
