You're probably trolling.

You're trolling in a thread about robots.

Robots killed my father and his gyspy mistress, so I do not agree with this plan, as it will dredge up all of my Freudian robot-father-Gypsy issues.

hAHAHAHAH WOW !!

I CANT WAIT TO SEE THIS! They dont think like a HUMAN, anyways, they do EVERYTHING robotic!! Smile))) I mean EVERYthing! Eating, talking, they way they LEARN is even so mechanical, that OUR style of Western teaching, does seem very difficult for them to comprehend, hence, they CANT speak English no matter how many years they learn the language..... !

I am laughing so hard right now, my stomach hurts...! They must be feeling like they are being invaded by natives....Bravo just bravo!! LOL !

I wonder how long it will take for the Koreans to blame the robots that replace us that they are stealing their women and teaching illegally?

This whole thing just stinks of stupid. Does this robot have any sort of program to deal with classroom problems? Little Minsu just punched his friend. What now?

Then what? A Korean teacher has to be in the room, watching and listening the robot lesson. Then how is this saving on manpower?

Robots have been used in classrooms experimentally since 2005.

It doesn't make any sense, and judging by what was said in the Korea Times recently, it sounds like they're just doing it to show they can.
Quote:
"Using teaching robots in classes is expected to raise the quality of public school education, thus leading to less dependence on the private education," said Kim Hong-joo, a ministry official.

Also, an early start in teaching robot projects will be helpful in leading the new global market as the nation aims to be one of the top three global leaders in this field by 2013, he added.

Here's a comment by a teacher at the bottom of another article:
Quote:
I'm currently teaching in South Korea (and yes, there are always job openings... though less than usual, with the recession on). I teach at two public elementary schools, one of which is on the extreme outskirts of the city and only has 46 students. For some reason, this tiny school got an English robot called the Cybertalker, which uses voice recognition and some kind of face recognition to tailor pre-made conversations to students. The only time I've seen the thing turned on was in the frantic lead up to a school inspection, when my English classes were cancelled in favour of registering all the students in the system and trying to make it perform for the school board officials. Even with days of practice, the students couldn't make it respond - even the almost fluent teachers couldn't make it recognize their English. These are the crappiest teaching robots in existence. A Speak and Spell would be more useful.

I can see that playing out in every single classroom across the country, because not only aren't most Korean English teachers not really qualified to handle native speaker English teachers, they're certainly not qualified to handle machines and robots.

This may be the single greatest thing I have ever read on Dave's ESL, bar none.

I guess a robot can be guaranteed to have blonde hair and blue eyes.

Hogwan Boss: Cybertron, I need you to teach a new class in ten minutes. Just talk about yourself. These children have many levels but love to speak English.

Cybertron: Command understood and accepted.

Hogwan Boss: Cybertron, I know you already work seventy hours a week and have no vacations or sick days, but we need you to work harder even though it isn't in your contract. Please understand our situation. Korea is a very poor country.

Cybertron: Command understood and accepted.

Hogwan Boss: Cybertron, the students say that your classes are boring. The parents also feel that you don't teach enough grammar. Try to make your classes more exciting. Perhaps you need to take better care of your robot health. We think you should be putting more kimchi on your circuit boards. Kimchi solves all problems.

Cybertron: Command... bzzz... comm... syntax error in line 30... divide by zero error... Mary had a little lamb... Won't you take me to Funkytown? ... bang!
