ear buds are usually fine, its the discs that always fall out for me.
I find that the local cheap brands have kind of thin cheap covers on them though. You could look around for some JVC brand ones. They've got the thicker rubber buds on them.
I got mine at technomart. |

How can anyone answer this? We don't know the size of your inner ear!!
But if you spend a bit more and get IEM's (in-ear monitors) then you'll likely get 3 sizes of rubber seals. Choose the one that fits snugly in your particular ear canal. |

Perhaps try some clip-on type for outside of the ear.
I found they stay on fine when exercising or anything, are further away from the eardrum so perhaps safer. |

Like eamo said, if you get a decent pair of buds, they should come with some sort of fit kit.
I use Shure e4cs. I bought them 5 years ago and am still ridiculously happy with them. I use my Shures with these rubber/foam plugs that you compress and put in your ears and they expand to form a nice seal. I know brands like Shure are more than most people are willing to pay, but for me they were worth every penny. |

Actually, look at any in the Shure line of eXc's. X being a number. These are often used by professionals (like RHCP) in concerts. Thing is, you won't be able to hear anything--if I remember them correctly. I think the point was that they are super noise cancelling. Might be a problem if you're out and about on the streets of Korea--or out and about in general. |

I got a pair of Philips SHE-9850's for sale. Brand new Comply Foam tips that will make sure they stay snug in your ear. Sound quality is great.
Are you interested? |

Youre right; they are quite good at blocking out/cancelling sound. At first it can be disorienting, but you get used to it. Its nice on the bus/subway because you can listen to your music at a low level and still not hear anyone. Since the fit is so nice, others dont hear your music, which is great. I bought my mom a pair of the e1cs for Christmas last year, and she loves them too. Some people complain about the lack of bass in lower models (especially 1c and 2c), but thats a different discussion altogether.

For what its worth, I wore them in Chicago for years without a problem, and now wear them in ruralish Korea just fine. |

I've never liked earbuds.
I have had my AKG folding headphones for quite awhile now, they are closed so I don't bother others, they don't give the isolation of the ones you stick half way into your head though of course. |

Good quality IEM's are my favorite technological invention since the electric guitar. A must for modern living.
BTW, earbuds and in-ear monitors are two different things. |

OK. I don't like earbuds because they fall out and always break easily.
I don't like IEMs because of the 'feel'. Personal preference. |

IEMs are amazing. I have one pair of JVC marshmallows which I'm not a big fan of - they feel weird and the sound is average.
then i got some sennheisers - LOW END ones at that (maybe $25). unbelievable. cant believe something can have sound like that and be comfortable. makes me want to shell out for a really pricey pair. |
