In 1976 the rock band Queen were scheduled to appear on live talk show hosted by Bill Grundy. Bill was well known as a drunk who would polish off a bottle and do the show in an inbreated state. The program was live and the producers had little control on what was said . Usually the guests would be invited to have some drinks or get pissed drunk before the interview.

More than thirty years ago the rock band " Queen" bailed out on the Today show last minute. The producers were stuck trying to find a last minute replacement. At the last minute they were forced to bring in What at the time was a relatively unknown band. Bill got drunk and tried to pick up Susie. The next day the event made front page news. Bill was fired shortly after.
