I had a great thread in General Discussion about finding an apartment in Seoul. The Mods never stickied it.

You could try Konkuk University area(7 stops) or Shincheon(2 stops). They're just few stops away. They're fairly cheap if you look around especially the Uni area. Try asking a korean or Korean Coworker to help you out finding a real estate agent in those areas.

I've got a one room apartment at the Konkuk University stop available. It's in a fairly new building and everything is remodeled. I'm moving closer to my university as I'm wasting too much time on the subway to get to class/work. Konkuk Uni isn't far from Samsung Station.
The apartment is pretty large for a one room. I have a sofa, desk, double bed, dresser, bookshelf, wardrobe and a shoe case and there's plenty of room.
I put down 2,000,000w for the deposit and 430,000w/month for rent but they were originally asking 5,000,000w/400,000w/month. If you're interested PM your email and I can send photos and put you in touch with the realtor.
The apartment will be available from April 20th.

Avoid the officitels if possible as you'll end up paying WAY too much in monthly management fees/utilities, usually for less space.

Recommend the lady Sue Woo, her English is not the best but enough to communicate.
