This is my first year and I'm only a couple months into my contract. My employer informed me that they have no intention of reimbursing my airfare (which is supposed to be, according to my contract). They've also given me a different schedule than what was originally discussed and require working on Saturdays... but these specifications are not in the contract so they're entitled to do so, it just sucks for me.
If I want to change schools and the LOR is not granted, is it possible to do a Japan visa run rather than returning to my home country to get a new visa? What should/ can I do?

well then your options include.
:Listing the name of the school here, (post will likely be deleted)
:Sell everything in your apartment before you go, collecting your final
months pay.
:Take your hagwon to small claims court.
:Refuse to work weekends. Having a backbone with a hagwon manager/owner is awesome.
: Offer a compromise, but inform them that they WILL honor the contract. Cal labor board with them next to you for confirmation.
: Send a letter home to the parents, informing them of what the hagwon is doing to you.
:Burn down the school. (This one is of course completely illegal, not recommended.)

But won't this enable the school to go after the teacher for compensation for lost business.

Why don't you just go to the labour board and get your airfare back first before running...if it even comes to that. And keep detailed notes about everything the owner talks about...getting it on email would be great.
