Last 2 days I've started developing cold/flu-like symptoms (stuffy itchy nose, dry cough, headaches and mild nausea). This seems to have coincided with the yellow dust clouds. Could it be just a coincidence, or is the dust causing these symptoms? Does anyone else feel sick?

It could be the yellow dust, pine pollen, a winter's worth of dust that you can now enjoy airborne because people open the windows, or a combination of any number of allergens that come out to play here every year at exactly the same time.

To my knowledge, yellow dust doesn't cause cold and flu symptoms, but could cause cancer and disease on down the road just as smoking cigarettes and ingesting other pollutions can do. You are probably coming down with a cold just as many people got in the past month. I came down a month ago with runny nose, sore throat, and all that crud, but just got over it a week ago where it lasted 3 long miserable weeks.

More likely the stuff on your bike was pine pollen.

I guess I could be having a reaction to the pollen. Would this cause the symptoms I described?

Yes, especially if you have hay fever or allergies.

Washed my car last Tuesday.

Got an inch of dust on it already.

My car begs to differ.

There was no yellow dust last week. I think it was two Saturdays ago there was a dust storm. I don't know what it was, but it wasn't dust from China on your car.

An inch? that's not dust nor pollen. That's an eruption.

Of course it was. When people say "yellow dust", they mean the dust storms from China. Apparently, what you have is pollen of some kind.
