EDIT: Spoke with someone today who told me my price is a bit high, so I'm lowering it to 450K KRW. Get this bad boy off my hands Wink

I've been overcome by an irresistible urge to buy a 40D or 50D (really, largely due to stupidity and wastefulness on my part), so as a compromise between my desires and my common sense, I've decided I'll only buy it if I can sell my old camera.
It is a Canadian bought camera, not sure how many shots on it, but it's in really good shape. I've had no problems with it so far. I have no pics of the camera itself, but you can see my flickr for what it can do:
www.flickr.com/photos/urban-ninja/
Almost everything you see before the "Snow in Korea" set, was shot with the 18-55 lens which I'm including. I also used my 70-300mm, but nowhere as often, it's safe to say that 95% of the shots are with the kit lens that I'm including.

I can't include a lot of stuff, since I'm sticking with the hobby, and staying with Canon, so I'll need a lot of it, but there are some things I can give you with it.
I can toss you a 2gb memory card, so that you have something to shoot with. All of mine are brand name high speed cards (Sandisk, Lexar), as I don't believe in buying ghetto no-name ones. I'll also include a few filters, as most of my new lenses are not 58mm thread anymore.
So there is a Henry's 58mm UV filter, a TiFFEN 58mm HAZE 1, and an OPTEX CROSS 4X (58mm as well)
I'm including the strap for the camera, but I can't give you the bag, as I'll need it still. Oh, there's also two batteries and a charger for it, and all relevant cabling, as well as the user's manual. I'll also throw in anything that I randomly find that I have that will no longer be compatible with my new camera/lenses.

Located just outside of Seoul, willing to meet pretty much anywhere in Seoul. Also, I will not accept even 10won below my asking price. I love and use this camera regularly, and I'm fine with continuing to use it if I don't get my asking price. If it takes too long to sell, I'll just buy that Sigma 30mm f/1.4 I saw for sale here and keep my 400D Very Happy The 400D is just as good in terms of image quality as the 40D/50D, they're just manlier cameras with more features, so don't think you're being short changed in any way by using this camera. A lot of very talented friends of mine have it and use it. It works really well with their smaller asian hands. My meaty paws demand a meatier camera though, that's all.

It's the Canon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 II that comes with the camera when you buy it new. It's not particularly fast or sharp, but it's fairly versatile, especially since it's mounted on a crop factor camera. You're getting the equivalent of a 28-88mm because of the magnification of the body, so it covers a really good range.
I never had any problems with it until I got faster and sharper lenses. I do kind of miss it sometimes, because my widest lens is now a 28mm, which is the equivalent of a 45mm. This is a great starter combination.

Howdy Solarian,

I have a couple of questions regarding the camera:

1) When was it purchased?
2) You mentioned it functioning well, but what kind of shape is it in cosmetically? I am thinking about purchasing it as a gift, so it would be important that it look like new.
3) Can you estimate about how many photos a 2gb card holds?
4) Finally, are you familiar with the camera scene in Namdaemun/Yongsan? Can you purchase accessories - camera bag, memory card, etc - for this model there?

Thanks!

I bought it right before I came to Korea, so about 6 months ago. Cosmetically... I actually have no clue, I'm typing this from work, but I've never dropped it, or had anything even remotely weird happen to it, so it should be perfect. I actually never stop to look at my camera, I just point it at stuff Very Happy I'll try to take some photos with my cellphone of it when I get home though.
A 2 gig should hold about 197 shots Very Happy Assuming you shoot in RAW. If you do RAW + Jpeg it'll be less.
You can definitely buy stuff for it, but you have to consider the many names it goes by. It's called a 400D here and in most of the world, XTi in North America, and a Kiss in Japan.

Edit: I've already gotten into contact with that guy about the lens I want, so I may be less inclined to upgrade my camera if I've already blown a good chunk of cash on a new lens too.

Edit: I looked at the camera in detail just now, there is no damage anywhere, but there is wear on some of the grips from my hands, kinda like how the button surfaces on a mouse wear out. It also has dust/dirt under switches, etc.. If you're looking for something that looks new, this is not your best bet.

I have a Canon 40D for sale on here, when your 400D is sold. My 40D was purchased in the US and comes with everything in the box from the manufacture minus the Spanish manual. It's in excellent condition. Let me know, if you are interested.

I saw it, I was going to message you about it, but then I would have two too many 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lenses Very Happy

I saw the camera when I sold him my lens. As far as I could see the camera seemed in mint condition and he looked like a guy who takes care of his stuff. Just my two cents.

PS Are you still gonna keep the 1.8 lens? If not let me know I might be willing to to take it.

suprd3vil - I'm having problems getting the photos out of my phone camera, so I haven't been able to post any of the camera, but as I said it has no damage anywhere, just a bit of wear on the grip surfaces from my hands holding it.

Joe - Sorry, but I'm keeping the 1.8. While I do like the lens I got from you a lot better, there were a few times that I ended up switching to the 50 to get a little closer, and it's so small and light that I can always have it on me without it weighing me down or bothering me. Overall, I think it's the lens I would recommend most to any starter, dirt cheap, small and light, really sharp and versatile.
