Last week a Korean American got caught with 20 plants in his apartment.
Ouch.
Not sure how he got caught, but according to my buddy who is a criminal lawyer, he told me that most of his clients get caught based on opening their mouth.
Feeling for the guys family. No matter what country you are in, alot of shame comes with something like that.
Note: Take a look at Chronicprides post here on page 2 for the accused statements to the media.

I heard he had to give a speech to the media saying that this was a problem in America. That he obtained the seeds and learned how to do all of growing in America and that it had nothing to do with his Korean background or upbringing.

Of course there is no drug problem in Korea caused by Koreans. Can't believe they try to save face (as a community/nation) by trying to blame another group or country.
Imagine if they caught the Korean student alive in the states who did that awful shooting spree. And the authorities made him get up and say the reason for him doing it was that it wasn't because of his time or background in America but it was because of his upbringing in Korea. The nation would go wild.
No my friend. It wasn't because of American influence and and it wasn't because of Korean influence. It was because you are just a crimminal doing something illegal in this country. (Let's not get into the debate of whether it should be legal or illegal here).
Own up. It's your fault a no one elses. |

I would tell the media that Korea's four seasons make it the only place on earth conducive to growing the finest quality marijuana. The stuff would be legalized within a week! |

The country seems very detached from reality and truth. I'm a n00b and I have not been to Korea yet but there seems to be an incredible amount of government sanctioned propaganda. I'd expect nothing better from a China or an Iran. I had assumed that N. Korea and S. Korea would be drastically different...but they don't seem to be that different from what I'm learning. They both like to put on a show even though everyone know's what's really going on. |

Umm no. The South Korean media bashes the gov't all the time. Ask a lot of South Koreans what they think of the current President, and they'll bitch away. Good luck finding that in North Korea. Not sure why you would really think the two are similar. Especially since you haven't even been to the ROK.
And I should note the OP didn't post any links backing his story up about blaming America. |

yeah I was definitely exaggerating, but both governments seem to have no problem with lying and going with the flow with anti-foreigner sentiments. seems like a korean thing, whether from north or south they are never responsible for anything bad that happens. |

Ever recall Dubya admitting a mistake? How often do you hear American politicians being honest and owning up to anything? |

Ahhh Dave's...the place where a bunch of people come to say that Koreans never admit that anything is wrong with their country, yet anytime you get in an argument, these posters never admit anything is wrong or admit they made a mistake... |

OP: So you've heard this story, huh? Have you read it in the press? If not, then it's a non-story. |
