To put it in a huge nutshell-
I got a job thru GEPIK. While I am getting ready to go back to Korea as GEPIK, I have a plane to catch in like 4 days. My agent gave me the visa issue number, so it seems that I need to go down to "LA" cousunlate to apply and get my visa.
However, my agent told me today that I NEED to submit the original CRC while turning in to all the necessary paperwork at the korean embassy in LA. The problem is I only have a copy, not the original which was sent to my agent by me while processing the contract in Korea.
So, I really need to get my visa, but it might be that I can't because I don't have the original CRC. However, I made some calls and found out that I might be ok with a copy in lieu of the original. If I have to submit the original, that means I have to re-book my flight. I am really sick of this nonsense. Why didn't my recruiter tell me from the get-go that I need to submit the origian to the embassy?
Anyways, if there is any GPEIK teacher that sqeuaked by without submitting the original one, please let me know! I am supposed to go the embassy in LA tomorrow morning and am afraid of getting rejected due to the absense of the CRC.
Thank you! |

did you call the embassy itself and ask? I'm working for GEPIK and don't know why you would need to submit your CRC with your passport just to get your visa stamp. You've already done the paperwork and gotten the visa, all that should be left for you to do now is turn in the application form, your passport, a photo and a fee. Anyone else can call me out on this, but you shouldn't need your CRC for this part. If you can't call the embassy, try taking the copy and hope for the best. |

I also didn't need to submit a CRC for my visa stamp. I only had to submit the application, fees, a photo, and maybe transcripts..
I hope it works out for you! |

I am also in a very similar situation, except I have ten days to catch a plane. I was very confused by the possible requirement of the CBC. My recruiter said it was, I believe the Korean Consulate website said it was, but when I called my regional consulate, (San Fancisco) the lady I spoke to never stated it was required. So in the end I never submitted it with my application.
Does anyone know how long it takes them with processing if everything is properly submitted? |

I just started GEPIK and got my visa from the Korean consulate in LA, and the background check wasn't required.
It took 1 day. I went in on a Thursday and picked it up the next day (Friday). It should work out just fine Good Luck! |

Is it a requirement that I visit the consulate in person to receive the visa or can it all be done through the mail? I live about 800 miles from my regional consulate and i really don't want to make the trip unless it's absolutely necessary. |
