I was curious about what to expect from a bed provided by the school. Are they usually new or at least new-ish? I am scared of getting a matress that is small and well used by many people. Also, if the matress looks like the result of a month long hobo orgy can I buy a new one and have the old one removed?

I have always gotten old, used mattresses in provided housing. Yuck. Good luck!

I'd have no problem paying for the bed. My concern was mostly that the school wouldn't want to store the old one. I'd offer to just leave the new one as a replacement, but if I stay in the country and eventually change schools I'd like to take it with me. It's kind of a silly issue, but I always like to be prepared.
