I just copy and pasted this from a Korean hardcore/punk/rock forum and am trying my luck here. There's not much traffic there, so here it goes:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey guys!

I just got to Seoul near Mokdong about a month ago. I want to get a melodic hardcore band going that was started and never took shape in back in California. Yes, there's actually a small scene here with really fun shows and good people. There's already songs, shirts, CD's, and we never did anything with them. I can ship them here easily. Other members joined Stick To Your Guns, and we were all working and in school ...but now I'm here.

If you've wanted to be in a band but haven't yet, I can't think of an easier way to start. There are a bunch of tracks on the Myspace account, so if you like what you hear and can play it proficiently (seriously), let me know.

Ideally, I'd really like to have some Koreans in the band too, so if you know any players, let me know. I can play drums, guitar (I did in the band), bass, and vocals--I'm open to whatever position. I'm down to practice minimum 1 time per week, and 2 shows per month. I'm not really into the trip-out drug/420getwaste music thing so if that's what you're looking for, sorry.

Let's go!

i'm not in seoul yet but i'm down for practising when i get there, should be in the next few weeks or so.
i didn't really think there would be much of a scene but from what i've heard there is..well, a little bit at least.
really into stuff like defeater/have heart at the moment, in terms of making music, the more gang chants the better!
even if you find members before i get out there i'd still be definitely up for hanging out.

Awesome. If you're into Have Heart then you're totally gonna dig this style. What instrument do you play?

Like the tunes. The drummer has his shit together. Vocals are a bit wild for my taste but wanted to give you a bump.

Yeah, if the band had a bit more of a Protest the Hero direction to it I could say I probably would really like it, but as-is, it's too "hardcore"y for me (not that it's a bad thing, just a personal taste). Mostly it's the vocals that seem exactly like Bane or Comeback Kid. Still, pretty good quality songwriting and recording, so it sounds like you've got your head on your shoulders. If I could find a decent cab and amp I'd totally rock out with you.

I don't hear much Converge in there (listed in the influences), but if you were interested then I've been thinking about getting a heavy hardcore (think: Converge/Dillinger) band together with a large focus on the instrumentals (Converge/Dillinger mixed with 65daysofstatic type of thing).

Hey guys, thanks for the responses.

Stuff I posted is the oldest material, it's actually really rough. Newer material has a Have Heart/Final Fight/Verse edge to it, again, rough. I'm down to make new songs of course (it'll be all new members!), but I definitely want to recirculate some of the tracks posted as well. We'd be able to play shows quickly and immediately have a CD/shirts/myspace to back it up with. That's not easy to do in Korea right off the bat. I'm pretty good friends with Kiseok from The Geeks so I'm sure he could help get some fun shows to open at as well.

Looks like I might have a lead guitar lined up through Facebook--I'll confirm soon. I'm down to play drums, rhythm, or bass.

If this isn't your style it's cool! Personally, I listen to a ton of metalcore, post-hardcore, poprock, alt, indie, etc. but listening doesn't always dictate playing. Again, whatever, I'm pretty open; just wanted to set a tone and direction up front and see where that ends up going! Finding people who are all into this up front is such an easy way to get something started.

Hit me up if you're interested and let me know about what you can play, when you can, etc!
