By private schools do you mean privately funded (paid for through tuition) schools or after-school language learning academies (hakwons)?
Public schools offer security - no worry about pay and benefits but if you are short on the qualifications (just a BA with no tesol or experience) the pay can be at the bottom end of the scale. If you actually get some afternoon classes you can make more than you would in a hakwon.
Hakwons are a gamble at the best of times. They sometimes pay better but often you get cheated out of medical and pension benefits. You will also be over-taxed (3.3-5% compared to 2% or 0% at a public school).
The classes are smaller and your workweek can SOMETIMES be shorter (no desk warming).
But perhaps a better question to ask might have been,
"How high is up?"

I have the definitive answer. Which is better, using a descriptive title, or using a title that tells you nothing about your post, using a descriptive title is better.

I think it's clear what the OP meant. People are being a little negative because they sense a critical response resulting from your question. Anyway, on the whole, public schools are usually more stable than hagwons paying on schedule and having a more normal workday with weekends off. Having said that, however, many posters on this board have shared difficulties with these setups as well.

The couple at Eat Your Kimchi have done a video on some of the differences... It's fun. 
I've worked at both hagwons and public schools. It really just depends on so much as to which one is better. How well is it run? How do you get along with your boss and co - teachers? How stable is the position, especially in a hagwon. I am in a PS now, and am enjoying it so far... I get along well with my co-teacher, which is a huge bonus, since it doesn't seem as though everyone does.
There is just so much to consider, but really, in any school that you decide to work for, it could go either way. |

| a good private school with good structure is difinitely the way to go, u can get to know the students better and work better with others. |
