Hi, I'm Prabhat Ram from India. I did my BE (Computer Eng) and was planning on taking up a teaching job in Korea. So, I even enrolled for a TEFL program, and I'm already halfway through. But, as per the recent norms laid down by the Korean government, only those Indians who have a bachelor's degree in English studies, as well as a teaching license, are allowed to enter Korea with the intent of teaching English. After further research, I learned that one can acquire a license only after completing the 2-year B.Ed course. So, this revelation has put me in a fix of sorts. I want to know if my current academic qualifications is enough for the Korean government to recruit me, or even consider me for some of their state-sponsored programs like EPIK or TALK? Or, is there no other way than to acquire a license through B.Ed, apply for a job and then hope for the best? |

At the present time you will NOT be able to get a visa to be a teacher in Korea with your current qualifications.
HOWEVER, with your qualifications (bachelors degree and TEFL), you CAN qualify for ESL teacher positions in Thailand, China and Indonesia.
