So I am currently in Korea teaching at a hagwon. My ultimate goal is Japan. It was my major in college, I visit there often, speak the language, the whole 9 yard story like many have heard i am sure.

So I am looking into getting some certification while I am in Korea. Are there any ESL certificates I can do on the weekend in Seoul? Or will I have to do it online, which I thought some places frowned down upon.

Also, is there a particular preference Japan has or prefers over the other? and any recommendations for places/sites that you have used and have been successful with. I have seen some that help place you in a job after you complete the certificate program and are in their Alumni program.

I thank you in advance~! I did a search and used what I could find but I know this will yield much better results I hope Smile

I wouldn't worry too much about doing your TEFL course online or in the classroom - most employers in Japan will be more interested in your previous teaching experience - as long as it's 120 hours or longer, the TEFL cert will be more of a box ticking exercise for them.

There's some good info here about teaching in Japan: http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-jobs-abroad/tefl-japan.html

Good luck!
