I'm in the process of gathering my documents and applying for an E2 visa and noticed that my degree has my full name, but in a different order to my passport. Do you think this will be a problem when applying for a visa? |

i'm in the same boat, but mine has an added middle name that most other documents don't. when you say a different order, i don't really get what you mean.
surname first? |

This sucks.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get an official letter from your university saying that "name1 name2 name3 name4" is the same person as "name3 name1 name2 name4"? I'm even tempted to just send in a load of photos showing me collecting the degree just to prove it really is me!
Getting a reprint of my degree is not only going to be a real pain in the arse, but also cost a small fortune.

Why would it cost you ANYTHING?
The University gave you a degree that DID NOT have your name on it. Therefore they didn not give you your degree. If it does not match your legal name then it is not your degree.
The names may be close, but it is NOT your name.
YOu tell the University this and they MUST reprint the degree or else they are asking you to commit fraud with their fraudulent document. |

told them no dice, they reprinted one for me with all the right info. it just means work their side, but they'll do it if you kick up enough of a fuss. |

I signed onto the course under the name they put on my degree.
Its a complicated thing, but the name I go with in day to day life isn't whats in my passport or my birth certificate or anything.
I'm gonna give them a ring after Easter and enquire, flirt a bit if needs be and convince them they are in the wrong. Here's hoping! |

Interesting topic - because most women (not all) get a degree with their maiden name - then get married - so their passport has a different last name.
Then what about people with multiple marriages (divorced or widowed)? |

Honestly, I don't see it being a big deal; just apply for jobs anyhow. It might get caught up at a consulate, but I kinda doubt it. It likely won't matter at all employer-wise. Just tell them you use them interchangeably or something. |

You can disregard Olivers opinion. Others have had this very problem and their VISA was NOT allowed until they got the degree reprinted |
