For sale is an excellent condition US purchased, unibody aluminum Macbook. It includes all original accessories and box. Has been used indoors only in a non smoking environment.
- 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- 4GB DDR3
- 250GB HD
- nVidia 9800M video card
- 13.3 LED screen
- includes Snow Leopard OS disk
There seems to be some confusion. It is not a white macbook. It is the last iteration of the aluminum macbook before Apple re-designated the design as the 13" macbook pro. The only difference hardware wise between the unibody macbooks and 13" macbook pros is the latter has a built in SD card reader.
This macbook is more powerful then the entry level 13" macbook pro and near the performance of the high end 13" MBP.
- Price: w1,700,000 |
I am guessing that this is the version released before they incorporated the non-removable battery (given your specs). That will be good for some people, and bad for others (because some people prefer swappable batteries and other people prefer one battery with long battery life).
I am certain you don't have a 9800M video card, but maybe you have the 9600M video card. If you have the 9600M (and not the 9400M), then your computer is actually considerably more powerful than the most expensive 13" Macbook Pro currently available (your GPU is much greater and CPU is almost as good). If you have the 9400M only, then your computer is almost on par with the current top-of-the-line 13" Macbook Pro. However, the battery on your computer will only last about half as long as the battery on the new Macbooks and Macbook Pros.
I recently sold my Macbook Pro 17" for 2.3 million, and the current version (which is very comparable) was selling new for 3.6 million. I don't think you will be able to sell your laptop for 1.7 million won. A reasonable price would probably be about 1/3 off the new price of the top-of-the-line 13" version. So you can probably expect to sell your laptop for about 1.3-1.35 million won.
And to the guy who offered 1.1 million when the OP was asking 1.7 million...why even bother with a stupid offer like that? |

you should know that if I had more money than that I would buy a new one or at least offer to little bit higher as well as higher ability to buy.

Can someone give me a decent reason as to why anyone would spend this much on a laptop?
Someone was selling a used MacBook for 2.7 mil or something here before.
I highly doubt 99% of users would make a laptop purchase like that worthwhile. |

That was me, and I ended up selling it for 2.3 million won. The problem (or not, depending on your point of view) is that Apple computers aren't commodities the same way other PCs are. I don't know how they did it, but they have somehow managed to prevent their customers from caring about hardware specifications (mostly through slick marketing, probably).
In my case, buying the Macbook Pro made sense because I was using it to program for the iPhone/iPod Touch. Unfortunately for many people, you must run OS X and Xcode to write programs for that platform (there are now alternatives using .net, but they can be pricier than just buying an Apple computer, and certainly more complicated. Although in some situations, they may be preferable). People are highly contentious about Apple devices because Apple arguably charges "too much" given the hardware specifications. However, Apple isn't just selling hardware, but rather, a platform. As a result, they can charge much more than other companies for similar hardware.
No matter how you feel about Apple as a company, and its products, you have to admit that they are in an enviable position. They barely spend any money on R & D compared to Microsoft, but their products have an almost cult-like following and their profit margins are ridiculously high. Steve Ballmer would kill to have Apple's following, I'm sure. |

I agree with all you said, but I'm still not entirely sure why people are willing to throw down so much money on these computers aside from slick marketing and aesthetics. My perception of Apple WAS (and still is, obviously) that they don't really have much to offer besides said qualities; and I guess that's enough for a lot of people to shell out a few grand. This is incredibly biased, but virtually all the Apple users I know, save for one career web/graphic designer, use their MacBooks for e-mail, Facebook, and MySpace. If people are into buying a whole new platform for that much, it sure must hurt every time they're inconvenienced with software incompatibility or a total lack of support. I've never gotten a concrete answer to this question. People tend to 'just like them' and it's not my place to argue with that. Still confuses the hell out of me, though. What I would do with a few extra grand... |

I bought my first mac 2,5 years ago. It had the OS preinstalled. After a while I upgraded the hard drive, cloned the whole system to the new one. Later I upgraded the OS to Snow Leopard. 6 months ago I upgraded the whole laptop to a newer version, and just swapped the hard drive from the old macbook to the new macbook pro. I haven't done any OS tweaking, or ever formatted/re-installed the OS and software. It still runs smooth and swift, and is extremely reliable. Very convenient and hassle-free. Mac OS X is pretty much the only reason to get a Mac, though the build quality of current macbook pros is nice, too. Haven't tried though, maybe Windows 7 could do the same nowadays, but doubt that.
And to the original post, I don't think the 13" macbooks have had anything better than the 9400m integrated graphics (which isn't that bad at all). |

While I appreciated correction information and opinions. I think that for the Buy/Sell section, it's more appropriate to PM opinions and/or advice. The topic really did kind of go off tangent from a selling listing to a speculation/opinion/squabble mish mash listing. |

You're right. We should just let you post false information about the computer you're selling and instead PM you with corrections |

I will gladly quit posting in this thread if you can show me that your Macbook has a 9800M video card. And I will even apologize to you (how's that for graciousness?). |
