HIII>> I am just wondering if anyone had experience with this process: I am only working part-time for my current employer with my E2 visa and need to get another part-time job. I would like to know what does my emplyer have to do in order for immigration to let me have another job. Your imputs are very much appreciated. Smile

First ask your employer (Visa sponsor) for permission.

I am guessing as you are working p-t - you are working for a Hagwon.

Find another job yourself - where the hours will not conflict with your current working hours.

Then have your current employer - give you a "Letter of Permission to work at an additional place of employment" - Your current employer must sign and stamp it with the business stamp.

Then have the new job sign a contract with you and give you c copy of their "business registration paper"

Go to Immigration and complete a "Application for Additional place of employment" form.

Pay the fee 60,000won.

Immigration will keep your ARC (card) for one week - after that you will be legally allowed to work at the additional place of employment (It will be written on the back of your card).

As long as your employer approves it then it should be a pretty basic process.

I have heard that you can't make more money at your 2nd job....so if your new part-time job pays more you might need to change the wording in the contract. (i.e. write it up in terms of an hourly rate as opposed to a salary)...if your 2nd job pays more immigration might not approve it, as officially this new employer would need to be your primary sponsor.

I've worked two jobs the legal way. Basically the above poster is right, but working at two private institutions is not generally permitted. I was working part time at a public school in the morning.

You can work at two private institutions.
or
You can work at two Public schools (morning, afternoon - or different days).
or
Your first employer can be a private school - then you can get a second job at a Public school.

YOU CANNOT work at a public school - then get a second job at a private institution.

That used to be the case - but immigration got rid of that law about a year ago.

Basically before if your MAIN job was 20 hours and you wanted a second job which was 22 hours - you couldn't do it - unless you lied on the paperwork. (Back then you also had to submit a time-table schedule) for the jobs.

That law is gone - no need to give Immigration timetables/schedules anymore - and the second job can may more salary/hours.

Can you do things besides teach on your second job as long as your current employer approves or is it limited to Engrishee?

You can legally work in any field, provided you have your Visa sponsers permission and permission from immigration. I don't understand why people come to this board to ask question like this instead of actually going to the source ie. Korean immigration office on the application form you would be selecting either 6 (ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES NOT COVERED BY THE STATUS OF SOJOURN) or 7 (ALTERATION OR ADDITION OF EMPLOYMENT PLACE)

So basically if you're on an E2 visa, but you want to do some work in say the arts for example which is an E6 visa you would need to fill out the form selecting option 6 giving the name of who you would be working with. From what I understand provided your employer has no problem with it you won't be denied.
