1. My heat and electric are separate.
2. I don't pay for water or trash. Some people do.
3. My Internet and TV are from the same company. I think there's 5 or so English channels. I don't know for sure, I never watch TV.
4. You can get cheap phone plans, but make sure you go with a Korean or you'll probably get ripped off.

I have to buy heating oil for my apartment. It runs around 125,000 won in the winter and next to nothing in the summer.

Electricity is around 15,000 won a month.

Cable is around 40,000 won a month.

Landline phone is 3,500 won a month.

Cell phone is around 30,000 won a month.

Internet is around 30,000 won a month.

Also, there is a 15,000 won per month maintenance fee for my apartment.

Taking the bus is a pretty good deal. The local bus is 1000 won. A 20 minute bus ride to the next big town is 1,600 won on the nice bus.

That being said, there is so much variation you might as well just wait and see. If you're worried about money don't be. As long as your not eating a lot of steak and pizza, going on crazy shopping sprees, or drinking cases of imported beer money should never be an issue. Most agree that you can save half of what you earn with little effort.

We pay about 120.000 for heating a 3br apartment in the winter. It's about 25.000 the rest of the year.

electricity never goes higher than 35.000
Cable and internet combo is 25.000 (got a sweet deal, should be 55.000)
trash and water are included in our maintenance building fee which is 53.000
cellphone is 65.000 for my wife and 15.000 for mine

Maintenance (includes guard fee, water, trash): 120,000
Qook TV (got best package) + Internet: 60,000
Gas (in winter): 70,000 to 80,000
iPhone KT: 45,000
Electricity: 20,000

By the way locally you never pay for incoming calls or incoming text messages, only outgoing. Building owners should have their own insurance, generally people do not take out renter's insurance. Fitness Gyms are plenty in Seoul usually monthly fee is around 100,000 for a year contract.

Internet is very cheap.

Officetels are more expensive than villas. Try and get a villa if possible.

I have a shoebox of an apartment (20'x9') so your results will vary...

Gas in the winter costs me around 20-25k... Summer it's less than 5k most months...
Electric bills run around 15-20k, though I've got a lot of crap plugged in these days.
50k maintance fee... But my place comes with free Internet and cable so I'm not complaining.
Cell phone is cheap... 30k and I use it a hell of a lot... A similar usage in Canada would net me at least $70 bills (calling and texting + extras)
No idea about renter's insurance
In Seoul we've got T-money cards... Subway is 900won (80 cents or so) to get on and go a fixed distance, and then it's 100won every "X" KM after that...
Lots of gyms, prices vary... 50k-100k a month maybe?

What is a typical set of bills for someone whose apartment is paid for?

It would LARGELY depend on what kind of housing you are placed in.

A typical "one-room" in a villa will run about 50k won in summer (as long as you don't go crazy with the air-con) and ~100k in winter (for EVERYTHING).

A typical office-tel will cost about 120k at the low end and 200k at the high end (again depending on how hot/cold you want your apartment to be).

Phone service can vary again depending on usage and type of service.
Pay-as-you-go is 10k won for 26 minutes of talk time. Add more time as necessary. Minimum to maintain your number is 10k per month.

"Plan phones" can be as cheap as 9k +usage and a typical plan will run in the 25-30k range for average use.

Internet/cable packages run 20k per month with ~75 channels (including about 10 that are English).

High speed internet (if you plan to download or stream video a lot) run about 35k won per month (100Mbs) with no limits on total usage.

Would you mind telling me who you are with? I'm looking into changing from my shitty overpriced slow internet/cable service to something like this..

ABN in Suwon (which is where Valkyrian lives) is like that with their digital cable/internet package.

High(est) speed would be KT and their FTTH (fiber to home) or their 100Mpbs network.

I have digital TV with only about 5 English channels (15k) and use KT for their 100mbps net (35k) and I have don't any complaints with either one.
My average downloads run about 1TB or so per month.
