Hello everybody.
I want to know a bit more about the after school program. Lets say school finishes at 3:30. Does the after school program take place after 3:30? Will there be any classes held after your 8 hours (8:30 - 4:30)? With GEPIK, are all the after school classes extra pay or you don't get it as long as it fits within 22 working hours? |

In my personal experience:
The after-school classes were held AFTER the students finished their regular classes and were finished by 4:30.
Having said that, I also worked in an elementary school and the students had different finishing times so I had the "afterschool" for G3/4 students at 2:30 and G 5/6 at 3:30.
I taught 6 extra classes per week (each level 3 times per week).
20 classes in the mornings, 2 right after lunch (t-th) and 2 A/S on M.W.F. (for a total of 6 A/S).
Nice pad to the bankroll.... 24-28 extra classes per month @20k each.

Thanks for the reply.
ttompatz how many hours per week did you have in total? Did you ask for the after school classes?
Is it normal to have the majority of your classes in the morning? |

School ends for my middle-school students at 3:20pm.
Teachers stay in the building until 5pm.
After-school programs are from 3:30 to 4:15pm.
I currently teach 2 after-school classes (2 hours per week) but I am well below 22 hours. I'm not sure if I'll get extra pay. |

I'm in exactly the same position, but I only teach one After school class that finishes at 4.15pm. It will be raining snowballs in hell before my school gives me any overtime (I don't teach 22 classes).
Good luck. Keep us posted. |

My total was 28 classes (40 min) - all within my 8:30-4:30 day / 40 hour work week. Most of my morning classes re-used the same lesson plan (4 classes for each plan) so I had lots of time for prepping the A/S classes.
I had to create 5 lesson plans per week for regular classes (actually make minor changes from the pre-prepared ones) and 3 lesson plans per week for the A/S.
The A/S classes were by choice, not demanded of me.
I was asked would I like to do them and how many I would like to do and we came to an agreement before they were created. (this is not always the case in many schools.)
It is normal in an elementary school to have most if not all of your classes in the morning (periods 1-4). |
