|
|
Received my ARC card yesterday, and they put my school's address backwards, oddly they mailed it to the correct location but reversed the number on the actual card. I pointed this out to my director today and he said ah no problem no problem and doesn't seem to have any intention of worrying about having it changed. I'm thinking this is going to cause problems down the road...anyone back me up? I am this first and only foreigner at this school so all this immigration and such is new to them, and to me. Any reasons why this must changed as well as ideas on what to say to him to convince him that we must get this dealt with sooner than later would be appreciated. Also, I am quite confident that it was immigrations dyslexia that messed it up, not the boss, they should fix it free if anything but seems like the boss just doesn't think it's worth dealing with. |

That's what my boss did on the form, I asked him that too when I was watching him fill out the form for me and asked a couple times and he insisted that's what was to be put there. |

Nope, that's gonna need to be your home address there, Samurai Champloo. You gotta go back to immi and get that fixed. Bring a utility bill with you so you don't have to write out the address. |

Ugh, my boss is convinced everything's fine and dandy, any sort of official doc or something anyone knows of to show them A) it should be my home addy and B) it needs to be the correct addy?? |

Ask immigration if it's the right thing to do. They'll call your boss for you. No need for a piece of paper. |

hmmmm...that'll require figuring out how to get to immi on my own won't it, great, thought everything was going so well, just finished filling in my health insurance stuff and was thinking all my legal junk was finally done and out of the way, I don't want my boss to feel like I'm going behind his back but he just seems convinced that the way I have it ie. the schools address with the number backwards is just fine and everything is wonderful, gah. I don't mean a piece of paper showing why this is wrong but any official online thing that says this is a definite problem that must be corrected, I also asked the vice director a few minutes ago and he says oh don't worry they won't call the school they'll call immigration if you have a problem ... ummmm pretty sure that doesn't sound better, and then he said if I do have a problem the boss will straighten it out, well gah why don't we fix the damned problem before it happens and I wind up deported or in a korean jail for christ's sake :-p |

Your director is right. You can have your school's address on it, no problem. Immigration won't go to your house looking for you anyways, they would go to your place of employment. It's not a big deal and you won't get fined unless you are working at another address or school. I wouldn't worry about it too much. |

It really isn't an issue unless someone officially starts looking for you and in that case they'll show up at the school. I believe address changes can be made at the local government office and does not require you to go to immigration. |

Ok so let's assume the school's addy on there is not a problem, what about the fact that it says 609 and it should be 906? Does that fall into the whole "get your address changed within 14 days if you move" category? what sort of problem's may this cause me? I'm trying to convince them to just deal with it now and help me get it corrected but they seem rather unconcerned which is strange considering they've been very concerned for my safety since I got here, ie. got me the Bodyguard cell phone 3 days after I arrived, the one with the 100db siren and gps text to police and ask me every week if everything is ok in my apartment if I need anything if I have any problems etc. |

It's really not that big of a deal. But if you want to change it, that's not hard either. It's free and and all they do is write the new address on the back. |

The ARC indicates the place of employment which is why you need to go to Immigration and get any additional workplaces written in on the card. |
