|
|
My mother's birthday is coming up and I wanted to ship her a piece of Korean artwork. She's mostly interested in paintings. I wanted to spend between 50,000 and 200,000won.
Any suggestions on areas or actual shop names?
Thanks for your help. |

Insadong has a lot of art galleries/and shops (by the alleyways).....but I'm no expert as to the quality etc. Worth a try perhaps if no one else on here responds. |

There is a guy who sells painting near Deoksu palace. Along one wall he has several set up (saw him yesterday) a couple of them looked quite interesting. I'm not sure on his prices, but if he's just selling them on the street (and he paints them too, he had his canvas set up) I'm guessing they'd probably fall into that range.
if I see him again I might ask him what his prices are like, there was at least one I'd consider buying.
He's along the wall that leads to the Canadian Embassy. |

There's no accounting for taste. You might just get a nice photo of yourself standing in front of a monument and email that to a clearinghouse that will print, frame, and send the photo to your mom. |

Paintings are a little difficult to mail. Google images for "pojagi" and take a look. They are beautiful and very Korean. |
