Yes, we should all be held at knife-point until we sign statements acknowledging Korea's Dokdo sovereignty. Only then will we finally give a $%^. |

It's worth a LOT of money - nobody cared about Dokdo or "Takeshima" until a few years ago - when they discovered a heap of (minerals, gas, or whatever) under the sea around the rocks..
Then everyone was suddenly interested in owning the rocks to take a share of the profits...
Here is what has been recently discovered....
"There is a serious concern for pollution in the seas surrounding Liancourt Rocks. The sewage water treatment system established on the islets has malfunctioned and sewage water produced by inhabitants of Liancourt Rocks such as South Korean Coast Guard and lighthouse staff is being dumped directly into the ocean. Significant water pollution has been observed; sea water has turned milky white, sea vegetations are progressively dying off, and calcification of coral reefs is spreading. The pollution is also causing loss of biodiversity in the surrounding seas. As of November 2004, 8 tons of malodorous sludge is dumped into the ocean every day"
Basically they are destroying it.

I don't know how long you've been in Korea, but if you've never been asked "Do you know Dokdo?" is hasn't been very long.
Either that or you don't get out much. Either way we're dealing with a slippery slope. |

Well that's just darn incorrect. Korea is Korea. The East Sea is the East Sea. It's like my students who tell me "I am 6th grade."
Perhaps it's a metaphor, a really, really bad, nonsensical metaphor. |

Wow, now they want ownership of the Sea of Japan  . Typical. Besides, the Americans couldn't do squat about it anyway. They have no influence at all. As long as Japan wants to make a claim(and you can bet they'll keep it going to yank Korea's chain), the issue will never be resolved. Even if America did have a say in the matter, who do you think is more important to them, Korea or Japan? Yeah, that's right...Nippon means more than the spoiled little redheaded stepchild that is Korea.
In other words, the Dokdo/Takeshima will continue as long as Japan deems it necessary. Korea plays right into their hands. |

Koreans should just use the "Western" Method and take it by force.
Manifest Destiny. British Empire.
Handing out bracelets and and making an effort to educate people without violence is definitely not the way to go.

8 tons seem a little high, how many people are there and what are they eating? say that there are 30 people there that's 266 kg ever day

I have an issue with the 8 tons of sludge per day claim since I don't think enough people live on the island (unless it's being dumped from a ship).
Also, the link for the footnote of this claim does not work. |
