"Are you willing to commute up to approximately 60 minutes to your school(s)?"
This is the SMOE via EPIK app. I'm curious to know what you guys checked. |

Back in '05 I checked my three preferences. I was told I was guaranteed a a spot where I was currently living. They placed me in a city 40 minutes by car and 2 hours by bus (if I had the bus times right). I had to buy a car and I taught at 7 schools. However, with so much OT, I was making silly cash. I had to prepare lessons on the weekends but it was better than any hogkwon job out there. |

In the EPIK interview she was pretty keen that we agreed to that. We'd ticked yes anyway, considering it takes an hour to get to work here anyway, but she did emphasise it in the interview...if that helps! |

i ticked yes too. it takes me over 2 hours to get to work so anything under that will seem like bliss. although i can't drive, so i hope they don't calculate the commute by driving distance!
anyway, remember that just because you tick it, doesn't mean you will be automatically placed somewhere far from your school. i asked a similar question on this forum a few months ago when i was looking to apply for the SMOE feb intake and people replied saying although they did tick it, they were only 10mins from their school. |

So I just sent my application + recommendation letters yesterday directly via email last night. I was wondering how long the rest of you guys had to wait for replies?
I also started to get all my paperwork together, so hopefully things will come together within a week or so. |

Any Korvia applicants here who have heard anything regarding interviews? I sent a neurotic, twitchy email to ask about it there last night so hopefully I will hear from somebody in Korea by Monday or Tuesday - be it recruiter or EPIK.
Regarding the reference letters, is it reasonable to assume that if they're sufficient for the recruiter, they should be sufficient for EPIK?
Ugh... I hate waiting for things when they're completely out of my control
And congrats to the competition who have been accepted and are sending their documents over |
I heard back from Korvia only to find out that EPIK didn't accept one of my recommendation letters because it lacked the reference's email address. I had to get a new one, but luckily my reference was very understanding and prepared a new one for me almost immediately. It should arrive by tomorrow to be scanned and sent to Korvia/EPIK.
So if there's something wrong with your reference letter, Korvia will let you know
At least by the time I finally interview with EPIK, I will have all my documents ready to submit. One of my criminal background checks came today, so much faster than I thought it would take! I'm going to the state capitol tomorrow to get it apostilled |

If its true that they are requiring an email address then that is incredibly dumb. There are still a vast number of internet hating technophobes in western countries, and one of my referees happens to be one of them. |

Some people also don't like giving away their email addresses to strangers because they worry about spam, viruses, phishing, etc. |

Have my interview at 2PMKST/ 5AM GMT
I've been given the following tip, which I bring here in the spirit of solidarity
Quote: |
Little tip for your interview, be energetic and show your knowledge and interest about South Korea. Also give them an impression that you are one flexible person and willing to learn other cultures. |

Spring is in the aiiiiiiiiiiir. Anyway, I just have a quick question.
How many sets of sealed degree transcripts are required to apply to EPIK? I currently have 2 to hand.
I'm a UK citizen if that makes any difference at all. Thanks. |

As far as I know you need two, 1 for EPIK and then one when it comes to acquiring the E2 visa |

Cool. I already have 2 copies (which I ordered last summer) and ideally didn't want to have to order another copy, as it took 3 weeks to sort out last time.
Grrrrrrrr! Still waiting on a letter of recommendation though. Wondering if I should write one myself.
Did anyone here get 2 letters from the same place (i.e. - a University), as i was hoping for a "work reference" too, but said person seems to be hard to get hold of/really lame. |
