that isnt itaewon! from those pics, those are korean neighborhoods. HBC is north of there. take the 421 bus north from sinsa, and you'l go all through that area, and then get to itaewon. |

so they are gonna pull down the mosque too? so where do all the poor itaewon crew live then? all those poor people who live in bogwandong, itaewon dong etc.. they all going to move out??? BUT WHERE??
I think if this plan does take effect.. it will be designed for KOREANS
to Itaewon it self IE Foreigner hang out will move...
so all the foreigners will hang out elsewhere.. becuase the rent in this new hannam town will be Million dollar apartments ...realestate prices for stores, cafes, restaurants will be double ot three times the price..
so the question is... where will the new Itaewon be??
YAKU? OKSU? maybe HBC. if thats not planned for demolishing...
this will be a MAJOR construction too, it will totally cripple businesses in and around itaewon... |

Actually, from what I can see from the map on one of those websites, the Itaewon we all know and 'love' will probably be unchanged. The redevelopment stops short of the south side of the Itaewon strip. So the main strip and the streets immediately off it should be unchanged.
But the issue of what happens to all the poorer people who live in the area being developed remains. It might turn out like those redevelopment protests in Yongsan last year. |

That's not Itaewon. It extends from Bogwang-dong to the river. |
