I just checked KEB's website and they only offer limited services, mostly remittances, in some branches at nights and weekends. Or is it really slim pickings out there? |

non foreign friendly banks aren't really open nights and weekends, why would foreign friendly ones be?
I think maybe the branch at incheon might be open. I remember reading it keeps special hours. |

KEB has a few branches that are open on Sunday....I think that KEB is the most weekend friendly bank. |

I was under the impression that weekend banking (teller service) was eliminated when they switched (by law) to the 5-day work week just after the World Cup finished here back in 2002 (or perhaps early 2003).
Banks used to be open 1/2 day Saturdays but quit when they were mandated to the 5-day work week.

In a country that was, until recently, predominantly Buddhist why would Sunday hold any particular significance?
Just like having Christmas day as one big shopping day but 3 days off with many things closed for the lunar new year.

I believe that the Uijeongbu branch is open on Sundays primarily to serve foreign factory workers, who probably work 6 days per week. I remember seeing a sign on the door a month or so back that was in a bunch of different languages but actually NOT in Korean, advertising the Sunday hours. I just couldn't remember what the times were so that's why I emailed them.
It could be that the other branches are open on Sunday for the same reason. Who knows? |

Yeah, I guess, but if you look at Korean calendars, Sunday is the one "red day" of rest for those on a 6 day work week...and this is basically a Christian nation now. Anyway, I'm not complaining. Just found it surprising. |

This is a Christian nation now? About 25% of Koreans are Christian. |
