Any of you guys doing this?
I signed up for the half marathon on Friday. It is on wednesday the 5th of may (children's day) I have the week off work so I felt like getting a run in when I was travelling around and this was close by the area I would be in on the day.
It starts at Jung Suwon University, geonreung . I live in geoje and will be heading up towards seoul on the tuesday, whats the easiest way for me to get to the starting area? (I will get the bus from geoje to Nambu bus terminal)
I think it's starting at 9:00am so I would like to stay close by the starting area in a motel / hotel.
anyone got any suggestions on where I can stay, good, safe food to eat the night before (carbs would be good)
There is a link for the marathon below.

well I can't do this one because I'm doing the Seoul 1/2 Marathon on May 16th; however, I will tell you that I did a 1/2 last year and I learned my lesson. First, do NOT eat Korean food the night before. I had like mandu or something from the kimbap chun guk and it really hurt me for the run. If I were you, I would eat something filling and simple that you make yourself. Nothing spicy. Sorry I can't help with motels, etc.
Good luck! |

cheers mate. Good luck with your own run. I might just buy some bagels and have them the night beofre if I can't find anything safe to eat.
I'm not dissing on korean food, I love the stuff, just not sure about it the night before a half marathon with limited toilets and racing against the clock. |

Not sure if this is the one he is doing but:
http://marathon.seoul.co.kr/intro/intro01.php
However if you want to search for any races in your area, go to
http://www.kosamarathon.com/
click on the 3rd tab on the top of the page that has marathon information (마라톤 정보) as it's title. In there you will find a list of every race taking place around the country, and as I said you can search for general areas and dates.
you could also use this site:
http://www.roadrun.co.kr/schedule/list.php
but on my computer the Hangul doesn't show up, the characters are all exclamation marks, question marks, numbers and other symbols. It does work on my bosses computer though, so if you have a korean computer it would prob work.
On a side note, anyone know how to fix that problem with the text going crazy? |

No problem at all, oh if any of you fancy it, Myself and some of my co-workers just signed up for a 22.5km run for the 6th of june.
This is the site.

It's conevenient for me because it's in my town (gohyeon in geoje do), there is also a 10k and a 5k taking place. Apparently it's quite a tough race as one of the korean teachers told me yesterday. Her dad ran it last year and has run in many marathons but he won't be doing it again this year.
I think it's mostly because it's off road and it's up a mountain (imdo is the emergency fire road that runs along the mountain, according to the teacher) |
