I get sick about twice a year here. And as always I would go to the
doctors and they would give me the 30 pill mystery pack. Last time
however, a friend suggested I go see an acupuncturist/ Korean herbal
medicine doctor. The doc prepared a tea that I was to take 3 times a
day. Usually my colds stick around for almost 2 weeks.I felt alot better the next day. And by the end of the week it was gone.
He told me most of the time those mystery pill packs don't work.
As they are meant to treat the symptoms and not the illness. Either way,
do yourself a favor and head to the traditional herbalist. It is more expensive
but it actually works. |

Remember that prevention is the best medicine! Oh, and laughter, I guess, but I'd rather prevent a cold than laugh while I have a cold. Especially if I'm all phlegmy.
I don't know if you already do all this stuff, but I suggest multi-vits, a good diet, exercise, not drinking in excess, etc. All these will go a long way to reducing that cold-count.
When I did get whacked with a cold once, my Korean co-worker brought me a bunch of packets filled with turtle-foodesque pellet stuff, a couple of random pills and rice porridge. That did the trick for me. I felt better really quick! |

| Mystery pack? What, the nurse at the doctor's office doesn't hand you the prescription sheet? Every time I've been prescribed medicine here, that's what happened. You can even get them to tell you what it is if you can't read hangeul. |

Right. Also avoiding exposure to second hand smoke and wearing a mask during the yellow dust can do wonders for protecting the immune system. |

No need to get catty. Just because you don't believe it, doesn't make it stupid. For thousands of years, every person on the Earth believed it was flat until one nut-job had the audacity to say it was a sphere. Do you have perfect knowledge of the body's inner workings? Can you say for sure this remedy DOESN'T work?
Also, let's not forget this: Where do you think modern Western medicine came from? Most of the basic chemicals that pharmaceutical companies use came from PLANTS, people. Also known as HERBS. That were used in herbal remedies for centuries before being scientifically studied and refined. |

Actually, it's been known for more than a couple of thousand years that the planet's not flat and it wasn't exactly a crazy notion either. |
