Hey everyone,
This is sort of a job related post, but not really. I have been talking to a few different recruiting agencies and had interviews and possibilities here and there but finally got a real offer and now just waiting to see the contract.
It's a new private school that just opened in Yongin, so I want to know what people know about Yongin? Let me first say that I'm glad it's near Seoul because I like big cities, BUT I do not like big cities for the normal expat reasons (many other expats, western bars, etc.), I just like the environment. However I like that Yongin is still a pretty big city, but not top big, good hiking and nature spots aren't too far.
Does anyone know anything about Yongin?
PS- job is 2.2mil, kindergarten-elementary, 11am-7pm. |

Yongin is a huge city, there are different "Gu's" within Yongin. I live in Suji which is a decent sized little city and i've been here for a little over 3 years and I love it, it's maybe a 30-40 minute bus ride to Itaewon depending on traffic. So you can jump over to Seoul relatively easy if you feel like a bit of the fast life. For me this medium sized city i'm in is more than enough for my life style.
There are some total boonies of Yongin so you should find out where exactly your living. |

I really like Yongin so far. It's a smaller city that has everything you need and if you crave more of a nightlife you can go to Suwon next door or Seoul |

Just got here, but I've been very impressed so far. The downtown area has everything a westerner would need as far as goods, places to eat, and bars. There is a nice river trail that looks to run throughout the city. The country side is much more scenic than I ever expected. |

In regards to the post about getting there and away to Seoul
If you catch the Red Gyeonggi bus one way to Seoul is 1800 won cash or if you buy a T money card (a transport card that you can recharge at the subway stations or convenience stores) then its slightly cheaper 1700 won...
The subway starts at 900 won but usually you will be about 300 won extra if you get off in Seoul....at the moment the closest subway to Yongin is in Bojeong or Jukjeon and it is easy to get a bus to transfer
Yongin is a great city (I live in Bundang...but it is very close by) you have Everland, lots of western stuff and like another poster said is close to Seoul and Suwon |

OKAY SO: I also now have an opportunity in Gangneung!
Pro's/cons-Yongin/Gangneung
Gang has better hours (10-6 rather than 11-7).
Yongin looks like a more enjoyable city.
Ganneung is right on a long BEACH+
So basically, sacrifice a larger city for slightly better hours and near the beach?
Anyone have thoughts on Gangneung?! Urgent please!
Other details the same, private school, 2.2mW. |
