Long story short, I've got to go on a visa run to extend my current tourist visa. My E7 app was submitted yesterday, but the process will take longer than the time I have left on my current tourist visa.

So--

Does anyone here have any good experiences with doing a visa run to Japan? I heard the ferry was the cheapest way to do it.

If you're already in Busan, then definitely the ferry is the cheapest option. But you can get Fukuoka packages from a lot of travel agents - flight + 1 night in a hotel. They are about 300,000 Won. Sometimes you can find special offers of something a bit cheaper. Generally a visa run to Japan isn't expensive.

OK.. you are NOT extending a tourist visa, you are DEPARTING Korea.
When you return you get a NEW visa waiver entry stamp.

All you have to do is leave and return. Same boat, next flight, whatever.

IF price is a factor, look at a quick trip to someplace like Taiwan, Manila or Cebu.

Unless you are in or near Busan it can often be cheaper than doing the ferry thing.

Currently, Cebu Pacific air is showing trips to cebu (dates: next week) for as little as 320k return.

Cathay has 3 night get-a-ways to HongKong (air/hotel/transfers) for about 450k won.

Eva can get you a weekend away in Taiwan for about 400k (air only)

I think the ferry is running about 300k now + your trip to Busan and your hotel in Japan (unless you return on the next boat).

For 300k Won you can get a return flight Incheon - Fujuoka plus a night in a decent hotel. Sometimes they even have special deals for less. But if it's only another 100k Won for a couple days in Cebu or Manila, then that would be my choice.

But Fukuoka is a nice place. They have night life, they have beaches, it's clean, it's safe, it's easy to get around.

Who does this deal? I fly to Fukuoka at least once a month and I've been paying more than that. Thanks... Smile
