Quote:
Six pages of the contract Palin's handlers sent to Cal State Stanislaus were unearthed in a dumpster by students there this week, and one of the many requirements that must be met for the former vice presidential hopeful: two unopened bottles of still water and "bendable straws" must be waiting on a wooden lectern.

That was just one item among the pages of elaborate demands that must be met to land a contract for Palin to come speak at an event. More costly were the requirement for her travel the venue must supply her with business or first class commercial airfare, or with a private plane. And not just any jet will do.

"The private aircraft MUST BE a Lear 60 or larger (as defined by interior cabin space) for West Coast Events; or, a Hawker 800 or Larger (as defined by interior cabin space for) East Coast Events, and both are subject to the Speaker's approval. The Speaker Reserves the right to change the flight plans at any time," the contract states.

At least it's not like she eats arugula or mustard or something.

Dubious source: "Students"(read: 21st C. versions of upper-middle class SDS types of the '60s...hypocrites par excellence)found these "documents"?! In a dumpster? Not buyin' it. Why weren't these intellectual giants studying?

Why don't these heroes of the "masses" ask what Chomsky demands for a univ. speaking fee?

Chomsky is definitely wealthy. He charges 9 to 12,000 for each speech. Most high profile people get much more than that. It's not unusual. I don't care about Palin. I wouldn't want to hear her speak. She is pretty for her age, but she never paid attention to foreign policy until McKain found her. America needs people who are well-rounded. I don't care about this bickering so much. I am concerned more about the spending on wars rather than Palin or Chomsky's fees.

That's just it, Adventurer. You have a choice of whether or not to hear Palin speak, regardless of whether or not admission would be charged. Likewise, any organization has a choice of whether or not to accept Palin's so-called "demands". It's called the MARKET, and when has Palin(or any Republican, for that matter) ever ranted against that?

Chomsky is an entirely different matter. He bills himself as "anti-establishment"(to use the old '60s term) and "anti-capitalist". Yet he's made a fortune in speaking fees. And about the only place he ever speaks at is the univ. campus. Of course...if he tried to spout his bile at an ordinary workplace, in front of the great unwashed, he'd be hooted off the stage 30 seconds into his speech.

Stipulating a 'Lear jet' or 'Hawker 800' as a necessary term of the contract sounds like she's living it up but...
Flying from a mid-west city to wherever. Would you want to do it in a small plane?
As a celebrity for what it's worth, Mrs Palin doesn't fly coach or business class. 'Wasila hilbillies looting Neiman Marcus' (to quote the McCain Campaign eyebrows raised at the spending on new clothes for the family) But then what was wrong with that?
A new wardrobe for her family and a safe plane. I don't see the problem here Very Happy
