Wouldn't it be great uf there was a forum devoted to computers, consoles, refridgerator repair and the like? I think that at least half of the questions that pertain to this are relevant to Korea, eg. Where do I get a mod chip installed? I need to find a host for my site in Korea etc.

I think it would be an interesting forum, what do you think?

Interesting. Start a thread and we'll see how it develops over time, OK? No promises.
Have fun.

I like the idea but at the same time think we have more than enough (or even too many) forums. Sometimes more is less.

Another thing: I post/read a lot on the tech stuff so would naturally be in favor of a tech forum, but then there are going to be people wanting a forum on relationships/dating, a forum on holdiays/travel, a forum on... etc.

True. but considering how many active posters there are here, it's not asking too much. For a good example of way too many forums, check out Taiwan's http://forumosa.com. Less people post there than here and there are so many forums going on that it's difficult to find one's way around.

Don't get me wrong, if another forum were to be added I'd definitely vote for a Tech one...

Great! Considering that Korea is a very advanced country (technologically speaking) it just seems fitting. I've met two Germans here who were astounded by the way Koreans ebb and flow with all that is electronic.

Besides, regular posters here have at least one thing in common: being addicted to computers.

I'm almost positive it would make the place more interesting (and more intelligent-sounding, ha ha) and give certain posters an outlet to do what comes naturally without sounding too condescending. There are, after all, enough posters here to ensure it's success.

Just a thought...

I don't think it would be difficult to get around if we have more forums because there is a way to look at all recent posts from all forums at the same time.

There's also a way to search the 145,000 posts we have archived. Experience shows that not everyone uses the methods of finding information that's available. The method you describe may be similar.

If tech stuff gets segregated away from the most popular forums, those questions that get asked ("where can I get power transformers in Gwangju?") will be seen by fewer people, among whom there might be someone who knows the answer.

I'm not super crazy against the idea, just have serious reservations about narrowing the forums further.

That's a good point. I was referring to the "view new topics" link.

Hehe I only noticed that link a good 3 months after I first started posting here... Now I'd probably die without it.. :)

In any case, a Tech Forum would get my interest happening, but like everything else, I'm pretty easy with this sort of thing. :)

That said, I agree with the OP that there are a lot of Tech Q's in the Q+A forum in the first place.

jae.

Yes, actually I wish that link were on every page. Is there a mod reading this?
