Hi There,
A new teacher to Korea said it would be useful to post the following...
If you are looking for a phone either contract or prepaid the people at Happy Telecom are very helpful.
This is in Itaewon (also a subway station) behind subway exit number 3. Go to the second street behind, you will see a kebab shop and opposite is Happy Telecom.
I got a replacement prepaid phone for 20,000. They have all kinds of phones. Other phone stores nearby are competing.
They will always call to double check they are correct about the phone information and seem to magically have equipment such as extra batteries on hand.
Happy cellphone shopping...people who have been here a while I will not reimburse you for the time spent reading this post. Ha. |

There are a few shops right around the Itaewon station. Many of them run by foreigners. There's actually one right outside one of the exits when you walk up the stairs to the sidewalk. It might be exit 3. I'm not sure. It's on the main street next to or a couple shops from the big coffee shop.
The good thing about getting a prepaid phone in Itaewon is that they are used to dealing with foreigners AND they'll sell you a phone with just your passport. Most other places want to see your ARC. |
